Is there anything so sad in this world as an individual who can not stand up and fight when a nation is threatened. What yo have to realize is all the people we are fighting in Iraq would be here planning another attack if we weren't there. Like Bush or not he has kept us from another attack. War is a necassary evil that no matter what we do will always happen.

yes and no this is gonna be quick

Yes. cos it keeps world populations down so the Earth doesnt overpopulate i dont recomend nculear war which is bd cos it will just blow us all into another galaxie

No. alot of money which should go into ecnomy is lost, endless killing, the rich pocket, lasts along time

havent i been telling you peopl without a war once a while about 2 in a century the worl will be hiugely overpopulated there would be about 10-20 billion people if there were no wars which means more mouths to feed, more space for housin, and more pollution waste and use of resources. Which ultimately means there would be alot poor people around here.

War is not crazy or stupid its is a factor of life so stop complaing when u could have it alot worse and et on with your lifes

THERE CAN BE NO IDEAL WORLD

War is Stupid, it sucks, people from both sides get slaughtered, but it is a means to an end. If t done for the right reasons then it is justified. WW2 was fought to save us from sheer fascism and to stop the wipeout, by the reich, of jews, gypsies, homeless, gays etc etc. A war for oil is not as glorius but we do as we are told.

Next time ask a question though and not a statement.

Yes, but also inevitable. As long as there are conflicts, you'll have war. You'll never be able to get rid of conflicts, so you'll always have war. It sucks, but is often necessary, despite the fairy tale dreams of some people.

You're always going to have someone in a position of power who is evil. It's all a point of view. You can argue George Bush, Hitler, and Saddam Hussein were all evil. You'll find they have plenty of supporters who think they were righteous and great. All a point of view.

Read Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein for an interesting discussion on war. Unlike the campy movie, the book is more a political treatise than an action novel.

Yes, but all countries have a right to self-defense. There is no need for aggressive military action, foreign interference, the use of nuclear weapons and there are alternatives to peacekeeping like establishing neutral forces through the U.N. made up of the people of the warring country. I favour disarmament agreements and support a reduction and eventual elimination in nuclear weapons. You can say the U.S. is hypocritical in that regard, but I have to agree with sanctions against North Korea and Iran when I put that aside.

The danger those two countries pose is greater than worrying about partisan politics in the U.S. and problems with foreign policy. I didn't agree with the war against Algeria by France, though it was long ago, and they have never owned up to their mistakes, human rights violations and atrocities. Nevertheless, putting that aside, they were right to reject going to war against Hussein.

Very, very stupid. Nobody ever "wins" a war. They usually leave hatred behind for centuries amongst "the losers", often resulting in more death and destruction (Jugoslavia etc). They always eventually lead to some kind of dialogue and agreements that could have equally been achieved without the wastage of war - even if it takes many years to reach the dialogue stage. And, of course, the material and cultural destruction, quite apart from human effort, is tragic and ridiculously wasted. Then there's the wasted and broken lives, which might have otherwise achieved so much. Claims of "progress through war" by the development of new technologies are similarly bizarre. War certainly diverts science and technology to its own purposes, and many useful things are thereby invented (explosives, radar, etc). But seeing this as a particular benefit of war is as crazy as war itself - it discounts what might otherwise have been developed to meet real human need; and the possibility of developing goodies without war as a goad. So stupid, yes. But we get into that stupidity often in defence against some maniac with idealogical fantasies, like Hitler etc - and through the inadequacy of the leaders we elect to deal with the maniacs, like George Bush. In much the same way as most of the Western World has consistently elected Governments which have ignored warnings of climate change, in which humanity is ultimately making war on itself (Earth will survive, but like other animals, we may not, especially with over-population combined with over-consumption of resources, and fouling our own nest).

I think people are stupid. War is just one of the stupid things people do. Crimes, sin, and doing nothing are three other things that come to mind.
