They know they have a monopoly over the operating system business and are greedy so they make flaws so more people will buy their products. Seriously would someone sell an everlasting light bulb if they sold light bulbs for a living? It would destroy their business.

Funny.. I have just been using all those peskie free updates to keep myself up to date and haven't spent a dime on an OS in 4 years. but enough about that. do you think that they are leaving those holes on purpose. that is an odd maketing angle. after all if all your customers can't use your product then they will go somewhere else real fast.
the truth is that when you become the biggest and best at what you do than everyone is going to come gunning for you. all the little hackers and virus makers are shooting for microsoft because what would be the point of going after linux? what an accomplishment that would be to damage a largely free software that is used by less than 5% of the internet users around the world.
just remeber, when hackers go for a program they want the one that everyone is using, so if we all switch to linux or Macs then the hackers and virus writers are going to eat them alive too. it's like the first interview ever with an armed robber. when asked why he robbed a bank his answer was" cause it's where all the money is"

Firefox web browser is free, so is Open Office.
I bought XP because I couldn't afford a Mac. But I wouldn't pay for any other MS software, I use freeware.
I'm not 'upgrading' to Vista. I'm installing Acronis True Image and I'll use that to re-install XP if MS ever stop handing out XP activation codes. Just install it, re-install XP, update and activate it then make an image. You can re-install the image whenever you want.
I don't think their browser security issues are deliberate; I think its more to do with the way the company is run. It seems to be run by marketing managers rather than software designers.

It's about the Apss innit! People get locked into using software that keeps them tied to Windows (office etc) and people hate change. They like what they know.So vendor lock-in becomes easy. On the whole people are ignorant of the alternatives so it becomes a bit of a one-party state. In some ways similar to the old VHS, Betamax video battle. The inferior system won out due to clever marketing and licensing.

The real reason is Apple refused to license their software. (Hubris, see below?)
Read the book called Accidental Empires or something like that. Gates has always been sneeky and offering software that never existed to stay one step ahead of his (already fumbling because of hubris) competitors.
We all should of had Apple I've been telling everyone whenever this lousy windows gives the blue screen screwup.
Gates is not brilliant, neither is his software. Most of it has been ripped-off and reassembled hodgepodge into windows.
It is truly being at the right place at the right time kind of luck. Having hubris competitors and desperate consumers is extremely helpful.

To interoperate with other Microsoft products. You can't play most games on OSX/Linux, and the ones that do work (e.g. through WINE) do so at a performance and stability penalty. Until recently, you couldn't open Microsoft Word files with most Linux apps or non-MS Mac apps.
And Mac OS X isn't a great alternative because it's tied to Apple hardware. I think if you could run OSX on any x86 box, Windows marketshare would drop quite a bit.

examine and notice if there's a Multicolored eco-friendly decal someplace on the workstation. it rather is going to say something like homestead windows XP homestead version..... and alongside the side it says evidence of License certificates of Authenticity. as long as you have this decal, you're no longer a sufferer of counterfeiting. call them up and yell at them or something, and tell them which you particularly have that sitcker. do no longer purchase yet another replica, you do no longer could desire to spend 2 hundred greenbacks on a replica which you rightfully very own. additionally, there is no SP3 yet for homestead windows XP.

the rest is hard great. Mac, while more stable, runs crap with nearly every program I've ever bought, Linux isn't bad. Just needs some refinement and its gonna rip Microsoft apart. Give it time. Linux is already running in the underground...
