It takes male and female to create life. It takes a woman to bring forth life. Big difference.

According to the source you cite, 51% of born agains believe God is male. Surveys should always be held suspect. How the question was asked affects the answer. What is the margin of error(which every poll has and usually cites) etc.etc. The Old Testament most often refers to God as male principally because in the ancient Hebrew there were no gender neutral pronouns. The gospels make clear that God is neither male nor female but spirit and those who worship him worship him in spirit. Every bible literate born again knows this but the type of response you get to a question often depends on how you frame the question.

Ok, here's a suggestion of how to rationalize that. There are many stories of gods fully revealing themselves to mortals and this being too much for their psyche/body to handle. Perhaps this is just the guise that God takes on to contact people. Since the male is generally regarded as more of an authoritative figure in the US, it is logical that God would choose to be represented as such.
Just a thought.

Islam believes that God does not have a gender, but rather is called a "he" because that is the default. This is why Muslims believe that God cannot have children; he is neither male nor female. Christianity believes in a link from God to Jesus, so it is somewhat expected he is male.

God also has female names such as Sophia.
Personally I perceive God to be unlimited, beyond human comprehension-- much greater than anything my little mind could fathom. Ideas of sex or gender do not apply. The reason why God is perceived as male is because it is easy for people to relate to a human and the writers of the Bible were catering to a certain demographic.

We also reproduce, male and female have one reproductive organ in common, it is called our mouth. We produce situations and climates just by what we say. This site is evidence of that. God produces as well. He also created life by the words He spoke. So in a sense we all share similar qualities. So I just proved your theory wrong, I am Christian
(Proverbs 18:21) Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Technically, with dust and a guy's rib bone, which are apparently both femenin, and probably aren't that satisfying (which I assume is why he didn't try it again). And of course, they believe that he's the "father" of Jesus, as an asexual God would be completely incapable of impregnating a woman without taking part in a reproductive act.

Does the man in woman ring any bells for you? Man is made in God's image and we all come from Adam, you know, the first person, the first one.
