When someone makes me really mad, I begin to shake and my heart starts to beat out of control. I also get a shortness of breath and I know this is wrong but sometimes I need to hit the person who pissed me off. I know I am not crazy but anxiety does run in my family. Panic disorder as well if its not the same thing. Anyone have any idea or does anyone ever feel this way?

Hi. Definitely sounds like an anxiety attack. People with anxiety issues tend to not like confrontation that much. I do the same thing when I get angry. I shake, have rapid heartbeat, sweat, have a hard time breathing and get sick to my stomach. I have panic disorder and GAD. Especially seeing as you have a family history of anxiety you might have it as well. People with panic or anxiety are far from crazy so please don't worry about that. As far as feeling the need to hit, you should look for a more constructive way to vent when you get those feelings :o) Take care and best of luck to you!

I've had this happen to me before and I don't think you're crazy at all. It's probably a rush of adrenaline because you are so mad. Your body produces it naturally, but it can makes your blood pressure soar, your heart beat rapidly and it will strengthen your heart's contraction, which can definetley feel like you are having a heart attack.

You shouldn't feel bad about this, and YES it does run in the family, maybe not in the genetic way but when you grow up in an environment, you are passed down certain behaviours.

And i've had anxiety attacks before and I've never felt like I wanted to hit someone.

Hum, I think you need to work on that, because we do have genetic tendencies, but we can shift them if we have strong wills. Sometimes people think they are doomed to be a certain way because it runs in the family but this is a myth and you need to take it out of your head. You must however, try to calm yourself down when you feel anxiety. Walking away for a few minutes helps. Never hit anyone this can turn nasty, so next time you get upset and start feeling weird, ask whoever is you are having the argument with to wait for a second because you need to take a breather. Take a glass of water and try to picture in your mind something that makes you feel calm and still. Our minds are very powerful, when we are able to see something in our minds our body reacts accordingly. So try this out and see what happens. The problem with these genetic patterns is that no one seemed able to control that in the past, so in the past, your family was only prolonguing and instilling those genes to their children, and generations go by with people saying they can't do anything about it because it's in their blood, my father was like that, etc. etc. Try not to doom your children or future children to this fate. Cuz it seems scary. I'm a Naruto fan (japanese animation), people always thought he was doomed to be rejected his hole life but he wants to prove everybody wrong and he works hard to be aknowledged. I don't know if you are familiar with this cartoon, but there's an episode where he kicks the butt of a guy that is telling him that he cannot change his fate, and an examiner says, "the power to believe in yourself, that is the power to change fate". Hope it helps

Dont attribute this to your family. You are trying to find an excuse for your behaviour. You need to learn self control. So next time you are annoyed before you can do anything count from one to five and tell your self that a brave person is one has control over thier feelings.

You need medical attention. What you are describing is NOT normal.

Get help before you hurt yourself or someone else.
