You could talk to your veterinarian about putting kitty on Prozac or other such drug to keep him calm and less interested in what male cats do.
Perhaps a daily mild tranquilizer like Valium or something would help control the cat's urges. However, I would never ever give a cat any human drugs, either prescribed or over the counter without checking with a qualified veterinarian first. Cats can easily die from drugs that do not affect humans in a negative way. For example, never ever give a cat aspirin.
Your best bet is neutering.

banding is an old practice and obviously a bad idea. No there are no alternatives and I hope you don't wait. Once a male cat starts to spray or "mark" territory sometimes getting him nuetered will not stop that behavior. Cats are not responsive to conditioning like a dog you can't tell a cat no and spank it when they do something wrong thier brains aren't wired that way. Just avoid the whole mess nad get him nuetered. They live longer and have less health problems. the testosterone in a non nuetered male cat makes their life shorter and just try and stop him from getting to a female in heat... talk about pitching a fit =) If he is older and yor now thinking about it do it anyways. Good luck!!!!

Don't put a rubber band on your cat's testicles!!! Just take him to the vet and get him done properly. There are no alternatives, unfortunately.

nope. Please do for you and your cat need to live a pleasant life together. A cat will still spray and stink if you don't do the kind thing and neuter it. If money is a issue call a vet and ask for a clinic that helps pet owners out.

Hi there...unfortunately, no. You are working against hormonally induced behaviour which can only be effectively stopped by neutering.

There's plenty of alternatives.
You can let your cat father dozens of litters of unwanted kittens and contract feline HIV and lord knows what all else.
snip, snip. ;)

You could band it, but it is better to have him neutered. Less pain. n
