Yep - talk to your Vet.
Also, you can get a Rescue Remedy that's specifically for animals.
And you could ask your Vet about Feliway.
Plenty of calming products available.

Rescue Remedy drops (human type) work well after fear and stress. I just part the fur and put a drop on the cat's skin. (Put it by an ear or anywhere that can't be licked. Topical application lasts longer and seems more effective than oral.) But Rescue Remedy is not as good for deterring stress and anxiety as some other flower remedies.
Other types of flower formulas that might work better to deter the stress reaction:
Bach Flower Remedies Brand
Aspen: for fear of the unknown, general free-floating fears
Mimulus: for fear of known things, real things
North American Flower Essences Brand
Indian Pink : to remain calm and centered in the midst of intense activity
Pink Yarrow: for one who picks up emotional and psychic negativity from others; psychic "sponge" qualities which lead to nervous overwhelm
Canyon Dudleya: for one whose emotions are easily agitated; overstimulated by life events; tendency toward hysteria
There are many other flower formulas that are possibles, but I thought one of these would have the best success. One or both of the first two Bach flower remedies might cover it for you.
I used Mimulus for a while on my cat, who was very nervous. I knew it had worked for sure when once he jumped onto the counter and I yelled at him. Instead of freaking out, which he would have previously done, he just looked at me. While annoying, that's a more normal reaction for a cat.
I had my cat on animal tranquilizers for a while, but he hated them and they made him logy. If you can find a safe, natural way, it's better. A natural food store will likely carry these items, along with literature that explains what these and other flower remedies are for.

only from your vet and they will decide if it's necessary. Giving cats human tranquilizers or any human medications can be deadly. Try the first person's suggestions such as Feliway or Rescue Remedy. They really do work great!

Never use them they don't help. All they do is prevent the cat being able to hide from his scary situation, the cat is still scared and feels the same inside. By giving them tranquillizers u are making the situation worse.

the vet might give you some tranquilizers, like say your cat has a bladder problem, it's helps the pain making them all loopy, as if we took meds.
