Please dont put a cat to sleep just becasue of a diarrhea problem. First, you said your cat is outside. Bring him back in. He probabl could be stressed out. Are you home al the time?? Do you not show him any affection? Do so please. Also, change the cat food.My cat had the same probelm and I spent $180 taking him to the vet to find out. They ran all these tests and finnaly just told me to change the cat food. Try doing that.

First this is very serious your cat could die from dehydration you need to call a vet immediatly they will probably tell you what to do at home to help stop your cat's runnies if they don't or it doesn't work then take him to any vet's office and explain the problem(both the problem with the cat and your money situation) when you get there. Some vets have payment plans or can recomend another vet that does. Also most vets care very much about animals and are not likely to turn you and your kitty away even if you don't have the money(some will help for free). However if you want to give your cat away ask if the shelter is a "no kill" shelter before you hand him over and make sure that by "no kill" it means that they will NEVER kill your kitten. Last but not least if you have recently changed your cats food change it back to the one he was eating before(change in food irritates the stomach and causes the runnies and once you get him back on the food he is use to the problem should resolve itself) also if you feed him table scraps stop. Good luck!

I understand you do not have money for a vet so...You need to find out if there is a no kill shelter near you.
I would call your local animal shelter and ask them for a no kill shelters number. At the same time of the call ask about the cat and its problems. They have people on staff to answer most questions.

Chicken and rice soup helps the nerves in the intestinal track. That may slow him down on the runs, and the sodium levels are ok with a cup feeding every 12 hours.

Good luck and try to keep liquids in him till tomorrow.

Carrie, you need to get the kitten to a vet clinic quickly. Diarrhea can cause a cat to dehydrate from the loss of fluids and die as a result of it. Your cat could have parasites, eaten something that has caused the diarrhea or if you changed foods all of sudden this will cause the poopies too. There are many vets who are willing to accept payments, but also try borrowing money from relatives, friends to help. You kitten needs to be rehydrated quickly or it will die! There are no-kill shelters around you can try too.

In the meantime, canned foods will help hydrate your kitten, because it has water (moisture) in it and it does NOT cause diarrhea. Pumpkin (plain not the pumpkin pie mix) will also work at helping firm up the loose poopies since it has fiber.

He should see a vet. If you notice any blood it could be anything as far as parasites, a virus or a type of disease (Must see a vet asap if you notice blood in the feces). You can try a bit of metamucil to see if it helps. Make sure it drinks lots of water so it doesn't become dehydrated. If you have it on soft food, try getting it over to eating hard food.

Call the vet ask them, when my cat had it..the vet told me to feed her a mixture of cottage cheese (rinsed and drained) along with some cooked mashed chicken with kaopectate, and it worked really well..she was so starved she gobbled it right up!
