A University professor at a well known institution of higher
learning challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything that exists?"

A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"

"God created everything?" The professor asked.

"Yes sir, he certainly did," the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God
created evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principal
that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."

The student became quiet and did not respond to the professor's
hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said, "May I ask you a
question, professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?"

The other students snickered at the young man's question. The young ma n replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat.
Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy.
Absolute zero (-460 F) is the total absence of heat; and all matter
becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."

The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break
into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have
already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.

To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least
it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is
just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

The young man's name-Albert Einstein............ A true story

No one knows the complete truth or can have complete conception, or they would be God, which is considered blasphemous in religion. You have go by what you believe.

I dont know if you will consider this intelligent or not... but I do refute all of the so called arguments on the basis that they assume alot without really understanding the concept of who or what God is....and what His plan for everyone is...i wont tell you to have faith because faith is not something that you just have...
but faith (if you have it.. and the measure you have) is the belief in things not seen...so it is an essential part of believing in God, because we dont see Him and He doesnt say much...
that being said..God doesnt care one way or another whether you believe in Him or not..He believes in us... now why that is I cant really say... but He believes in us and for some reason He loves us..I do not believe that all ppl are suppose to believe right now or be "saved" or any of that.. He is also no big cop in the sky waiting for us to screw up so he can condemn us.... and since "their" concept of God is so misunderstood.... their arguments are mute.. why doesnt God answer prayer? He does--but sometimes the answer is no.. also what many dont realize is that He has to consider the ripple effect...if He answers a prayer for you..how does that effect everyone around you? is the timing right is it for your benefit ...will it devestate someone else... we are all interconnected...why doesnt He just stop disease..He does ..by giving us the ability to create medicines,etc... but generally, i leave you with this to consider.... we chose our path...and He said go ahead, make your civilizations, and laws, and religions, etc ...do it your way and I will back off and let you ....free will... but the day will come (and many of us can see it coming) .. when the son of men has screwed up everything so bad.. that we will have no choice...but to ask for His help... or we will all be gone... and you... you are a mathematic impossibility to exist...and in the universe .. there is chaos.. but it has order...the odds are beyond comprehension that all the billions of cells that make you ...could be in the correct order, the right quantity,etc...
lastly, MAN tells GOD.. we can create life from dirt !! So GOD says let me see...and as the pick up the dirt..GOD tells them, uhuh...make your own dirt... hope this makes some sense to you good luck

I'm not a believer and I've seen that site before. I don't necessarily disagree with a lot of those points but I could make the argument that maybe God does exist but what we think we know about him is wrong. It's always possible that the Bible is just a bunch of stories which prove nothing and it could be completely mixed up. God may exist but not in the way we have been taught.

One quote in particular is annoying to me, it is "Yet we know with complete certainty that these gods were imaginary because no one worships Zeus any more." I understand the point they are trying to make but the fact that no one worships Zeus anymore does not prove to me that Zeus is imaginary (yet it also can't prove he ever existed)

Pointing out things throughout history and mentioning how gullible humans can be, etc. while tossing in scientific references does not prove to me that the existence of a or any god is impossible. There is always the possibility that a god exists and we have no knowledge of 'him' yet.

I could argue any point this guy tries to make, except that he "thinks" he answers them already. He doesn't. He does what many do and take a couple verses about something, never reading everything else on the subject and draws a conclusion. The first comment on the page is about praying to heal all the cancer in the world, and he gives a few verses, but claims God won't do it. God wont cure all the cancer in the world and He told us in the Bible in this life we WILL have troubles. But there are also many people who HAVE been healed by God, not all of them because we are still practicing our free will and need to be permitted to learn from mistakes. If one question at a time was posted, and the sarcastic remarks left out, Id be happy to debate any of it.

in truth what you employ to practice no God and say it truly is evidence proves God. Evolution ( a unmarried celled organism did all of it.) Creationist (God did it) a huge Bang created the Universe ( God created the Universe) this is all idea without evidence. Scientists did it in a lab. God did it. each little thing you're saying proves no God easily proves God. If a cellular can do it why can not God. Who created God? Who created the cellular? Get it. The cellular change into consistently there. God change into consistently there. One challenge inspite of the indisputable fact that is practice me an wise component that has no human traits that could create something. i am going to practice you God. Wow Ke443 what a very open and intensely honest answer. Dude 2 thumbs up from me if i might want to. Wow how insightful. did not see this in any respect. you're some one i might want to like to communicate too!

As much of the evidence revolved around prayer, one could definitely say fairly logicly that God only sees an importance in the vast minority of prayers or that he keeps the number statistically low such that faith would exist, as knowledge and proof circumvent faith, as many christians believe in salvation through said faith, it could make sense.

This kind of argument could applied to almost any facet of any religion, the evidence doesn't exist because God doesn't want people to be certain, of course, that would also make God a bit of an *******, but it's better than being non-existant, right?

I've read them, and I can't refute them. Even if I could refute a few, there are about fifty strong arguments there.

I have also visited a related site, "Why Won't God Heal Amputees?" It's interesting too

I think someone who accepts that they need forgiveness and that they are a sinfull person is already Intelligent. Those who try to disprove God (Jesus Christ) and the Bible are like little kids throwing Tantrums in stores because they don't want to be spanked.

Someone probably could refute the arguments but your criteria says "intelligently".

Oh, come on! "Just have faith" is like the nuclear weapon of logical responses! You might as well tell them they're not allowed to say "Because god did it" in response to anything they don't understand. Or the last measure of deseration "I'll pray for you." :D
