I wouldn't spend money on a tattoo, instead I'd start preparing your funeral. . . j/k

My only question to you is, are you of Chinese descent?

Because if not, this tattoo may end up looking just as silly as teenagers who get Chinese symbols tattooed on themselves just because it's "trendy."

As far as you being too old, you are NEVER too old! :)

I frequently attend tattoo conventions with the artists from my tattoo shop, and I have seen about 10 women around your age come to them for their first tattoo! Usually it's something small, and I've seen several in the location you are considering... and they end up loving it!!

Before you decide on a design, though, I would HIGHLY recommend taking a trip to a tattoo shop and consulting with a tattoo artist. Make sure you have taken the time to look at their portfolio so you know what kind of work they do.

If you give them some ideas as to what you're thinking of getting, he or she should be able to draw you up some very unique ideas.

But, no matter what you decide to do, I wish you the best of luck!! :)

Go for it! 50 is NOT old!!! There's a lady in my gym who, for her 75 birthday got her first tattoo!

Just be really certain about your chinese characters! Maybe find a Chinese friend to help you out and make sure the characters are accurate. The last thing you need is some chinese characters saying some rather naughty/risky things tattooed on your chest!!!

You're never to old to get a tattoo. It' sounds like a very lovely tattoo that you want to get, and you're the perfect age to celebrate your children and grandchildren. I say go for it!
Hope this helps and happy tattooing!

You are never too old to get a tattoo... I'm still trying to talk my mom into going and getting one with me... I think she has started to respect my current tattoos now that in my grandparent's memory I have their initials tattooed on me next to my fairy...

My mother in law which is now 43 i think just got one like 3 months ago...

Don't listen to your friends... As my mom use to tell me... if your friends told you to jump off a bridge would you... be your own person and do what you want...

my mom is fifty and my dad is 49. they both got tattoos last year so i say go for it. but i would be careful about the whole "chinese symbol" thing because most of the time it doesn't mean what the person thinks it means and may not mean anything at all. but good luck with whatever you decide to get.

You can NEVER be too old for a tattoo. My mom has tattoos representing her children & grandchildren. P.S. she didn't get them until she was 1 month shy of her 50th.

I know I'm reiterating what so many other said, but I want to add my two cents -- you're NEVER too old! My dad is 60 -- he started getting tatts in his 50s and is still going. He's chosen very beautiful, meaningful things and he loves them! Good luck!
