Do you have any good idea to memorize this idiom?

1.hold out.
2.hold out for
3.hold out on

I have checked them on the dictionary.
it look smile but the neaning are different
and I am also very complicated to recall them.

First you have to hold your hand out (hold out) to get something. What are you holding it out for?(hold out for). Once you get it you put your hand onto it (hold out on).

remember "hold out" because it is the shortest so its number one. "hold out for" is the second because is like "4"0, half your life, and "hold out on" means your "on" the last line.
