The guy that I was dating would just make things up whenever we would have a confrontation about an issue. Basically he would take something that he had done wrong and throw it back at me like I was actually the one to blame. Is this just because some people don't know how to admit they are wrong? Has anyone else been through this with a significant other and did it ever get better? What did you do?

A person with issues like that stays with their issues. If you aren't happy with him as he is, find someone else more compatible. He's as likely to get worse as to get better.

First of all, this is not the way a relationship works--communication is supposed to be civil and sane--not arguing and whatever else. Is that what you want or is your idea of a relationship fights and stuff. Now he has a problem that will fill volumes--all I can say from experience is go away and find a nice guy.....one with integrity, respect and knows how to talk to a mate.Nope never gets better---so go go go---you'll be glad you did. You deserve a happy, romantic, not verbally abusive person. Trust me.. Good luck

As hard as this will be for you to accept... probably not. You have to figure out if this behavior is something you can tolerate and if this person is worth it. If it isn't something you can live with, end it. You can't be with someone because of what they might become, you have to be in it for the person they are right now at this moment.
