It sure sounds like a urinary tract infection, which plagues most women at some time or another. It can be caused by moisture in the crotch area or sexual activity or nylon underwear can be factors too.
Firstly drink LOTS of water, this usually helps fairly quickly. Get some URAL from the chemist or supermarket. This neutralises the acid in the urine which is an irritant and gives relief from the pain. URAL is fairly cheap too. Also drink cranberry juice.
If you dont find any relief in the next few days, you will need to visit your doctor for some antibiotics, which take care of a really stubborn case . Good luck.....but drink that water!

Did you lift anything heavy lately?
It could be that you pulled a muscle down there, and you don't really feel it until you go potty.
Also, a urinary tract infection is a possibility (basically, it is an infection caused by bacteria that built up in your urinary tract, usually this can happen when you don't empty frequently or completely), it is treated with antibiotics.
Another possibility is IC syndrome (intrastitial cystitis). About 750,000 people in the U.S. (about 90% of whom are women) suffer from this chronic condition of the bladder. In interstitial cystitis, the wall of the bladder is inflamed, leading to pain and soreness in the bladder and pelvic areas. The inflammation can also lead to scarring of the bladder wall that can sometimes reduce the capacity of the bladder to hold urine. In many cases of interstitial cystitis, small hemorrhages and ulcers are present on the inner lining of the bladder wall. Some of the symptoms are:
Urinary frequency (having to urinate often)
Pain and/or pressure in the bladder area and pelvis, ranging from mild to severe
Urgency (feeling an urgent need to urinate)
Pain and pressure that increase as the bladder fills and are relieved by urination
Pain during sexual intercourse
In men, pain around the penis or scrotum
Worsening of symptoms before menstrual period (menstruation)
Doctors are not sure what causes it, but one cause may be a weakened bladder or muscles due to childbirth. Unlike a urinary tract infection, IC does not feel like burning and you do not leak. A doctor will have to rule out other things, like an infection or STD, before doing tests to diagnose IC.
Good luck.

See your primary care physician. If your insurance allows you to see a specialist without a referral, you could see a urologist (if it's a urine problem). It could be a UTI, it could be a kidney stone (UTI found with a urine dip test/microscopic exam and the kidney stone would show on a CT scan and you'd have blood in your urine--not necessarily visible to you). If you're speaking of a bowel movement, is there any chance you could be pregnant? One of the signs of an ectopic pregnancy is abdominal pain with the constant pressure in the rectum. Once again, you need to see your doctor.

Since it shouldn't hurt to go potty (which one?) there is probably a health issue involved. Go to the doctor and have it checked out.

Urinary Tract Infection...Drink plenty of water to flush out your system. Depending on where you live you can purchase cranberry vitamins or 'Ural' from the chemist. Cranberry juice, cranberry vitamins or fresh cranberries are very good for preventing these infections.

SOUNDS LIKE A URINARY TRACT INFECTION.
GO TO THE DOCTORS TO FIND OUT FOR SURE.
THIS WAY YOU CAN GET THE PROPER ANTIBIOTICS TO HELP GET RID OF THE BACTERIA.
YOU SHOULD DO THIS ASAP BECAUSE I'M PRETTY SURE YOU WOULDNT WANT IT TO GET ANY WORSE.
IF IT DOES, THE INFECTION CAN EVENTUALLY ENTER DIFFERENT AREAS LIKE YOUR KIDNEYS WHICH WOULD BE EVEN WORSE.
