I have noticed a strong trend in preaching these days that bases Gods word on the 12 step program and postive affirmations and constant reassurance. I do believe that there is no mess that we get ourselves into that Jesus cant fix, I have been there myself.

However, when one makes a mess they need to confess it to the Lord and repent and see what amends need to me made and there is an accountablity involved and yes contray what is preached today there is consequences for sin.

My question is this which would you rather have preached to you, what I listed above or a mature realistic gospel that would convict a person to grow and flourish by being accountable.

I would appreicate good meat of the word honest answers and godly Bible verses as well. Thank you and the Lord bless you.

my question is what would you rather have a gospel that is easy and reassuring and makes you feel better or the true gospel that convicts and makes one become accountable, do you want a message that is easy to hear or a message that is hard to swallow yet makes one grow and learn and be set free.

The consequences for your sin, was turmoil. God led you, with your willingness and confession, out of the situation to lead your life again."God helps those whom help themselves".
My answer is, I would like the Gospel that is, not a modernized version to suit and anyone believing in the Gospel knows that God will be their judge. The Lord has the final say!
When people act out of line or commit crimes, there are laws and counselors for that, which help bring the person back to the realities of life.
People screw up their lives, but if it involves hurting others, then that's not Christian. But, sh.t happens and yes they are remorseful and yes, God will help then. Life is life and God gave it to you to live it and no one is perfect, not even He.

I don't understand the question... rather have what vs what? It's the same thing. Preaching v. gospel of accountability? Huh?

Can I have neither? I'm tired of being preached to.

If I want Jesus, I know where to find him. There's a church on every corner in America.

I think I'd prefer a sermon that challenges me to get completely out of myself and do something to make the world a better place for others.

I wouldn't want either of them preached to me! If you came to my door to preach, I'd just laugh and slam the door in your face. Just like what I do to the Mormons or Jehovah's.

I'd rather not have anything preached to me. I make my own decisions.

I really don't want either. I would rather live the way I want and not have any religion forced on me. But thanks anyway. :)
