i got a tattoo 4 days ago, last saturday, and the pain is still so bad that i dont want to move. i got a pretty good size tattoo on my lower back, i figured it would hurt for a little bit but nothing like this. i broke my tailbone twice and i have a lot of back pain from it and most of my back pain is in the same area as the tattoo. some say that it takes 5-10 days to heal and the pain to go away but being in the 4 day its seems just as intense if not a little more. should i be worried, do you think the needles affected my broken tailbone? i'm debating on going to the doctor, dont want to unless there are reasons for me to worry. anyone have any comments that could help i would appreciate it very much.

The same thing happened to me with my lower back tattoo. It felt as though someone had punched me repeatedly in that area, and it felt that way for about 2 weeks before it eased up.

I doubt the tattoo affected your tailbone. I suppose there's a small possibility of an allergic reaction. If you're really worried, see your doctor.

Good luck. I hope you feel better very soon.

ok, i am worried because u seem to really be feeling PAIN, and so much so that u don't want to move. not good.
Is any of the tattooed area red and swollen, like it is infected? have u been cleaning and caring for it as instructed?
call the studio where u got it done in the morning. they will maybe let u come by and have them look at it. they will know more from looking at it and talking to u if what u are dealing with is normal healing. i know some people are more sensitive. u don't mention if this is your first? if not, did the others bother u like this? if u aren't better in 6 days i would go to the dr. for sure.

Stop debating & just go to the Doc. Better safe than sorry.

I have a lower back tattoo & the only pain I experienced was during the actual inking, nothing whatsoever afterwards. It doesn't sound right that you should still be in so much pain.

I would go to the doctor asap. You don't want to take chances if it's a infection. When I got the one done on my lower back I was fine in less than 24 hours and on a 5 hour plan ride back home. Get it checked out. Good luck.

I don't think you need to go to the doctor...the needle for tattoo's don't go that deep....you're pain is probably just intensified by your back pain. Make sure you keep your tattoo well lubricated, and the pain will lessen soon.

If you are worried, go see a doctor. It could be infected. If it is and you do not take care of it, you could end up with a blotchy tat. Or a partial tat where the skin sluffs off. Good luck!

Highly doubtful your tat affected your old injury. As for the pain, it will lessen as time goes on. You could just have sensitive skin.

You may have an infection, go see a doctor.

I'm sad you got a tatoo. WHY? Because it will last forever and sadly it can interfer with so much in adult life. Hope your's isn't some place on your body where everyone sees it, hopefully in an area you can cover if needed.

is it skin pain or more internal? my back tattoos generally hurt until they start itching. have you tried putting an ice pack on it? (wrap the ice in cloth or something so it doesn't get your skin wet.
