get a crate and crate train him. don't use the crate as punishment. if you can't directly watch him until he learns better then he is going to have to be in the crate. stay away from pee pads they only confuse your dog since you are saying it's ok to go in the house, but just on here. when you catch him say NO in a firm, but not angry or yelling voice. take him outside and say lets go potty as you carry him out. and wait for him to go outside. it might take awhile the first few times. when he does go outside praise the heck out of him. wait for him to be done or he might stop and run to you and fnish inside later. look for signs he's getting ready to go such as sniffing one regular spot or circling. good luck

Rubbing his face in it does nothing, Joe. It just teaches the dog a fear of going to the bathroom in front of you. YOU NEED TO TRAIN YOUR DOG! Dogs do not come house trained. What you need to do is take your dog out every hour and when the business is done you reward with lots of praise and treats. Everytime you cannot watch the dog it is baby-gated in the bathroom or in an ex-pen. Crate it at night so that you know the dog is not going while you are sleeping. If the dog cries in the crate, ignore it until the dog learns that the crate is his den and that is where he will sleep. If you have any more questions, email me.

Walking him. It was just on Oprah. No matter how small the dog, they want to be walked.. A huge misconception is that small dogs can use those pee pads but they really don't work and you'll see a lot of mistakes...

Rub its face in it right after he does it, and yell at him at the same time.
