all dogs have dander and shed to some extent. some breeds that have been shown to be better for allergy suffers are chinese crested (almost completely bald) a maltese, a west highland terrier or a schnauzer. all of these dogs are terriers and are high engery. no dog is low maintenance though. all require at least twice daily walks, training to make them good calm housepets and proper vet care. plan on around $1000 for the first year of having a puppy. good luck to you.

Hi, I have a Lhasa Apso and bad asthma. I usually get very bad reactions when i go near any animal, my eyes would swell up and i would not be able to stop sneezing. I looked into different breeds and found that the lhasa apso is great for people with allergies. He has now been living with me for 3 months and ive had not as much as a sniffle! Everyone is right tho, no dog is really low maintenance so think very carefully before taking on one of these little babies!

Cagney had a great answer. If you find you still want a dog, look into poodle mixes. Their coats are almost totally hypo allergenic but they will need grooming a few times a year at a cost of $25 to $40 each time.

It see if a dog you are looking at bothers allergies, stick your face right into it's fur. I have a poodle and a poodle/ lhasa apso mix and they are wonderful and I have no allregies from them.

Maltese is one of the best.Their skin is pink and you can see they ordinarily have no dander and their hair does not fall out .When you brush their hair it stays on the brush.People with bone marrow Transplants are able to own Maltese.
