Ok, here is the entire story before I ask the question because you need this to make your decision. My uncle, two years ago, died on January 16th. The second anniversary of his death is coming up, and for about a month before his death, he was in the hospital. He had a bunch of stuff wrong with him, but the main thing was pancreatitis. That's what landed him there. He also had liver problems. He was the uncle I was closest to and could literally talk to about anything. I've been having a very hard time lately, one of many since his death, and was thinking about him among the three people lost that year (one to brain cancer and one to sudden stroke). This is going to sound weird, but the light in my hallway started flickering and flashing neurotically. I had just left it and was in the bedroom where my husband and daughter were. I looked at it, and for some reason I am not very sure of, said "Ok Uncle Jimmy". The moment after I said that, it stopped. Is this him or what?

I wanted to add that the entire family was there when he died. We were all phoned and I was holding his hand. He fought and saw me crying. He asked me why I was crying. I couldn't tell him. He fought so hard he pulled me across his hospital bed while my brother who is stronger than me held his ground on the other side. So, yeah, I watched a man die and have been scared insanely of death and aging since.

Compulsions? Huh?? I wasn't shaking or anything. I was cleaning up my house and the light started to do that.

To Wacky, that thought occurred to me as well. Then I remember that the bulbs had been changed a few weeks ago and were the good kind that last hours. That hall light is not on that often, and not hours at a time. As for his condition, what got him in the very end was his lungs filling with liquid. The staff had been taking it out everyday, and finally said it was of no use because he would just get worse and was not improving. He had also signed a DNR order.

That's potentially a lovely story. Might not it be your uncle be letting you know you have nothing to fear from "death". Although our human passing might be difficult, terrifying even, what is happening is that the essential part of our individuality is vibrating at a higher frequency and so inhabits a higher plane of existence. Rather clever of him to use a vibrating electrical device to bring you some assurance. Yes?

A lot of people wouldn't believe you, but I truly think that yes, it was your uncle. You said that you are afraid to die... Maybe your uncle was trying to send you a message - don't be afraid to die becoz death is not the end. It isn't just a nothing. Your uncle's spirit is still with you and as long as you believe in it, he will always be there watching over you. You are very lucky to have had such an experience and also to have an uncle who cared about you so much.

eze 18:4 Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die. - so when we die, we die, no part of our body survives death

ecc 9:10 All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol(the grave), the place to which you are going. - the dead cannot be contacted, they have no more knowledge because they are dead, sleeping

ecc 9:5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten

so this could not have been your uncle because he is asleep in death, not conscious of anything at all, but there is still a hope that you can see him again, for God promises this through the resurrection hope
acts 24:15 and i have hope toward God, which hope these men themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous"

pray to find Bible truth and you will

There are four miseries in this material world: birth, disease, old age and death. Since we take birth we have a constant fear of death. When we approach old age we also start fearing it. When we see someone dear to us getting old and dying then we become even more fearful. This a good time to look up to God and start preparing ourselves for old age and ultimate death. When we are young we foolishly think we are untouchables.

i can't say i believe that your Uncle was messing with your hall light but i can believe that Love transcends physical death and in times of trouble the Love of your Uncle is as real as it ever was.

maybe his Love is so strong an energy that it did interfere with your hall light but i don't think it matters, really. when you feel your Uncle's Love ... flickering light bulb or no ... it's real.

i empathize with the pain of your loss. ((((hugs))))

Even if it is your Uncle Jimmy or not, you have to change the light in your hallway for the sake of your family. It would be difficult to walk around in the dark.

Well... I could not tell if it is him or not, as it is shadowy and solemn; but are you sure he doesn't have tuberculosis?

To attribute unknown or undefined things to religion is ludicrous and is a sign of laziness of intellect.
