High beams are only used in open country when there is no traffic directly in front of you going the same direction or coming toward you from the opposite direction. If you have the lights on high beam and see an approaching car or are coming up behind slower traffic switch to low beam.

Driving at night when there are no on-coming motor vehicles. They should illuminate the roadway at least 4-5 times farther down the road than the low beams when set properly.

when there's no other cars coming,,and you need a clearer sight of whats up ahead and also on curved roads where you need to farther ahead ,also dim lights when meeting an oncoming car,,the bright lights may cause sight problems for them if met head on with them,good luck,hope this help,s.

I never use mine. I find they increase glare in fog and rain.
