"It seems to me, that if Fundamentalist Christians in America were to take one-tenth of the money and energy that they put into trying to eradicate competing spiritual worldviews and put it instead into feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, visiting the sick, and fighting for social justice — just like that rabbi from Nazareth supposedly suggested — our nation and our world could be genuinely transformed into a decent place to live for everyone, instead of just the wealthy and powerful. It might even make them look like good people and their ideas seem worth investigating."

Isaac, we've told you about quoting yourself as an authority figure before. You know that the Fundamentalists get testy when you challenge their values. Now go drink your medicine and go get some rest.

Totally assinine and Judas meant well, but as Jesus pointed out there will always be poor.

Jesus also expected his followers to live a poor, spartan life. You were to go out into the world with nothing in your pocket and only your clothest.

If you took all the weath away from Bill Gates, 40 Billion, and gave it to eveyrone in the world it would be a one time $700. If you just gave it to the poor (those who make under $25K) it would amunt to a one time $1,000.

There are very FEW rich people in the world. $50K a year is not rich. $100K a year is not rich. $1 million is not rich, if you stopped working at age 30 with $1 millioin you'd be broke before you were 60 years old. A million is nothing.

A billion, that's something worth bragging about and there are only a few thousand people in the whole world with $1 billion or more.

If you took that money from them and spread it around, it would be a one time $3000 maybe $5000, which won't even buy you a cheap Hundai

Tomorrow, hot shot, go out and buy some Banquet TV dinners. You are allowed to eat 3 a day plus some milk and water. That's youre life style FOREVER. That's about what we can afford to do for the entire world.

No Xboxes, not TV SETS, not cell phones, no cars, no PS/2, because we don't have enough of those to go around the world.

Electricity will be 12 hours a day 5 days a week

Water will be 8 hours a day 4 days a week.

We have parcel that, because there isn't enough for the whole world.

The net result is, we'll ALL be poor together!

The very poor will take one gaint step forward.

The very rich msut take 30 gaint steps backwards

The average American, Canadian, Enlishman, Swedish, Danish and German will have to take 5 gair steps BACKWARDS.

All so the poor can take ONE step forward

Then we all meet on common ground.

Average lifestyle, about $10K a year.

I disagree. I do not think those things will ever be eradicated on earth. It's the world's system that makes the poor people, and I think that there is good money in it.

As far as 'Fundamentalist Christians' being singled out, I think that it is unfair. I have my own problems with the Fundies, but I think that isn't one of my problems with them. The one's I know do great things with the poor and the homeless. They are most likely with them right now, it's common and everyday.

So don't be too hared on them for that, okay?

Ghandi said something similar. It's is understandable that Christians will fail (like everyone else) but the goal is to continuously strive to become more like Christ. Some seem to translate this to continuously striving to force others to be like Christ.
