I want to leave my big suitcase in or around the new Bangkok International airport in a 'safe' storage, be it a hotel or airport storage for a week while i travel down to Phi Phi.

Does anyone know of a place where i can do this?

Most hotels do storage for a relatively low daily fee. I've used the facility plenty of times at a couple of different hotels and had no trouble at all with tampering etc. Don't leave valuables or credit cards and check your bags on return and prior to leaving the country. If you have problems you're very unlucky.

There are no storage facilities in the BKK airport. Take them to your hotel and secure your vaqluables in your room safe or hotel safe in lobby. I really suggest that you take all your luggage with you since a lost bag internationally is a nightmare.

As you are going to Thailand - a country (like the US) where you cannot trust anyone - do NOT bring more luggage than you will be able to carry all the time.
And
Only leave in the hotel room the things you can easily be without.
NO ONE here in Thailand is to be trusted.
