There's a book for people like you, actually:

I really enjoy being able to speak another language proficiently. I now have friends who speak only Spanish or very little English and I would not be able to enjoy those relationships without speaking Spanish. I feel that language learning is just plain fun -- it expands your exposure to other cultures and allows you more things to choose from when you are deciding about what you want your personal culture to be.

I'm currently working on German and I'd also like to learn Serbian and/or Czech in the near future.

As far as what I use it for in my career choice, I study linguistics, and my graduate program requires me to have a certain level of proficiency in at least two languages other than my native language. So it helps further my school career. But, as mentioned, I also enjoy the cultural knowledge, fun, and relationships that I build.

Yes, I speak Italian and some English and Spanish and it comes in very helpful at work. Most people here speak some Spanish and many, it is their native language. So, it made sense for me to learn. Also, I think it gets us out of an isolationist mindset and opens you up to the rest of the world.

I speak malayalam , hindi, tamil and english . I wish to learn french sanskrit and german. I feel learning languages kind of broadens one's horizons. It gives you a better understanding of the world and your help is always needed by others . A good reason to learn more languages. I read somewhere that learning a new language is the best way to improve the working of your brain.
