A puupy will never starve itself. Offer the pup food and give it 20 minutes to eat. If it hasn't eaten by then remove the food(and treats) until the next regularly scheduled meal. Your pup will soon learn to eat when food is offered.
BTW-there are far better foods available other than Science-Diet which has known cancer causing ingredients.

Yorkies are tiny little dogs, many of them need 200 calories a day or less, plus they are very smart little buggers. They know how long you will wait until you get anxious and feed them something good to entice them to eat, and they will wait 5 minutes longer than you will. A common owner concern with toy breeds is that they just don't seem to eat anything, and when you consider that they may need less than 1/2 cup of food a day, yes they get by on practically nothing. If you feed treats, or use treats as training tools or potty rewards, they can happily get fat off of their treats and never ever touch dog food. Science diet puppy is an excellent choice, and there's many more foods to choose from. Ask your vet to calculate your dog's daily calorie requirements, and then you can measure out how much puppy food that is. You will be shocked by how tiny that portion is, but you have a tiny dog. A 5-lb dog is only going to eat 1-3% as much food as you do-that's just a few bites.

thank you for being a great parent. As a yorkie breeder I have to be so careful of people I sell to. Your question says it wont eat. but then say's how to eat more. At 4 months you have been to the vets twice for shots. How does your vet feel about its weight for its size. Yorkies come in diffrent size's. Mine average 5lbs. they have self feed there whole lives. my oldest is now like 8 years old and has been fixed and over 6lbs and over weight. we are on a diet. I have one that is 3 years old and only 4 lbs, I would like to see more on her but she is healthy.
When buying vitiamins buy them from a pet shop or vet. Or Jefferspets.com . You can also use the dog food as treats. If it is peeing normal and having normal bowl movements. I wouldn't panic. It is also young so it is active. When it hits 2 years of age you will see a whole new dog.

I have raised yorkies and found they eat when there hungry, very moody dogs when it comes to eating. I give mine Purina puppy chow for it is small pieces and easy enough for them to chew and mine thrived on it and when I felt they were not eating enough as Yorkies are so moody when it comes to eating lol I get the little dinner size packages of pedigree little champions moist food, some come with gravey, and mix it with the puppy chow usually once a week or so and they seem to not be able to resist it. I believe to have a healthy Yorkie you must first find a food they like and Yorkies are known to be picky eaters and you just can't make them eat food they don't like. Vets don't always take that into consideration when dealing with Yorkies. Also when you take your yorkie in for its shots make sure your vet takes into consideration the weight of your pup and does not over dose it, if your pup is real small don't let them give it more than two shots at a time, better to have to go back for more shots then to end up with a over dosed pet for if you don't know what to watch for it could kill your dog. Thank God I knew mine was not acting right and took her right back and they gave her another shot to counter act it and she lived, of course they charged me for the shot to fix there mistake, which I was not pleased with for the shots are expensive enough that they need to keep them protected, but it made me stay alert from then on when taking my dogs in for shots. Never be afraid to ask questions or set limits on the vacinating your pup, could save its life. Best wishes with your new little one, Yorkies are great companions.

1st, Science Diet is not really a very good dog food - look @ the ingredients on the bag. I highly recommend Nutro Ultra & add a dollop of yogurt with highest content of fat (usually 3.25 %) & stir it into the dry food. Also, make sure your pup gets plenty of exercise as this will aid it's appetite & it will be good for your pup & you.

Try a childrens multi vit designed to stimulate the childs appetite such as, incremin, available from chemists. It worked for my dobe to gain nearly 1/2 again her own body weight (about 20 lbs)

You have to give it what it likes. Experiment. That was how I learned when my dogs liked.
