No, during WWII in the Pacific theater, Australians actually fought against the invading Japanese forces (though with little effect) as the Japanese took island by island. And remember, Australia was still under British rule and the British were in a declaration of war against all Axis forces, including Japan.
I forget if the Japanese actually took any Australian land but they did take a large number of islands near it and was preparing to take Australia. This lead to a number of Austrialian soldiers to step up to give resistance so that the islands were not taken so easily but with little results. There actually has been some Austrilian POWs captured by the Japanese.
And a lot of the British colonies have fought the Japanese in their regions, Austrialia, Burma (British forces tried to hold back the Japanese forces from India though failed), and even fought various campaigns in India.

Australian soldiers were amongst the first to actually stop the Japanese attacks in the Pacific. Our battles on the Kokoda track in New Guinea are well documented.
There was a proposal to abandon the North of Australia if the Japanese had invaded and defend the country from the so called Brisbane line. There was debate within the Japanese military about wheather or not to attempt invasion. In the end the battles of Kokoda and Coral sea decided for them and Midway was the iceing on the cake so to speak.

December 7, not 17. General McArthur went to Australia in early 1942 while the fighting was still going on in the Phillipines so I cannot imagine that Australia would have been in a passive position. The world, especially the US, had been preparing for war in the Pacific for sometime before the attack at Pearl (the Phillipines were also attacked at the same time), so defenses were built up in a lot of places.

I have found no evidence that Australia ever made a declaration that they would not resist Japanese forces in WWII.
Australia was a vast country, populated by aborigines and many criminals, prostitutes, undesirables, who had been deported or evicted from other countries; notably England. Hitler had no immediate designs on Australia, as he did not consider that continent a threat to his "world supremacy". Unfortunately, for Hitler, those he considered criminals, prostitues, and undesirables, valued their freedom. Many Australians joined the Allies; fighting along side the English, protecting the freedom they had achieved and wanted to maintain.
Australia can be proud of the young men who supported the allies, fought, and gave their lives to WWII.

I collect you're paying for in to the complete "best suited technology" element. only untrue. What precisely is it you spot as "like people who fought in WW II"? For one element, maximum of them have been drafted, and compelled to combat. Pearl Harbor did motivate many to enroll, yet maximum have been drafted. there replaced into lots cowardice, too. not all human beings replaced into John Wayne. there replaced into additionally lots income made -- by infantrymen from their comrades, by company-vendors offering weaponry. the theory that all human beings replaced into brave and every person sacrificed replaced into extra from the flicks than actuality. (nicely, countless the sacrifice replaced into compelled rationing -- yet there have been cheats there, too.) Then there are different issues to evaluate. That replaced into the technology who had no situation with rounding up harmless electorate and imprisoning them (and confiscating all their belongings), protecting them at the back of barbed twine for the scale. Blacks, who have been envisioned to serve and sacrifice, weren't seen human, and have been segregated; they decrease back from conflict to locate their situations on no account greater by their braveness and sacrifice. women human beings have been slightly seen human, and have been envisioned to tutor off their brains, and activate their uterii after the conflict. in case you get your background from romanticized sources, you get a distorted view. there are countless issues that have occurred on account that -- the disappearance of the midsection type, the U.S. continuously being on the part of oppressors against the oppressed, corruption, vanishing desire for the destiny. each technology is the two unique, and prefer the different -- only as all human beings is. the international isn't that of the Forties. i think of the vogue in direction of figuring out, not in undemanding terms with our very own united states and Europe, yet with all humanity, is a stable element. i watch for its improve over next generations.
