My two budgies have been living together for a year now. Sometimes one of them pecks the other when he tries to get near him. Sometimes even out of nowhere. But they also seed share a lot. When I take one of the parakeets out, the other chirps a lot and he chirps back as if they're looking for eachother, but I'm not sure. What do you think?

If your birds start really hurting each other you need to have a second cage. Parakeets do scuffle in the wild.

I would suggest a larger cage if the one you have is the typical cage that is about 1 foot square. Also load it up with toys. You can make all kinds of toys so this does not have to be expensive. Keets also love cat toys like the plastic balls with holes in them. Just be careful about loose string. A safe toy will not have more than 1 inch of loose string.

Strips of news paper tied together in knots and hanging above their heads is something that will give them a lot to do and hopefully stop some of the fighting.

Important, If you have any mirrors in the cage please remove it. Your birds may very well be fighting over the bird in the mirror.

You are exactly right. Parakeets who are cage mates always want to know where the other one is. Birds typically keep track by calling to each other.
They fight sometimes even though they are good friends. Just like a lot of people. They are lively little critters.

They are probably just playing or are moody. As long as they are not creating wounds on each other I wouldn't worry. I have two conures that do the same thing. They are protective of each other but the like their own space sometimes. They have been that way for 5 years now. No worries.

if they are not doing major damage leave them be. like all roommates they will fight a bit but for the most part are good friends. IF they are doing damage try getting another care and putting it next to the old one. this way they can still interact without hurting each other

They are your typical married couple - seriously. Yes, they have little spats but when you allow one out and I bet it is the male that gets out, he may take a beating when he gets back in the cage- I had lovebirds and this behavior was common.

They are like a cartoon- if you can imagine the one in the cage saying "oh no, you're NOT going out" and the male saying "Oh yea, try to STOP me, SHE's letting ME out and NOT you"!

parakeets fight a lot, infact to the point of getting one down in the bottom of the cage and a lot of screaming...............and finding him dead in the cage later. Could this be a heart attack?

Well, budgies are very temper mental. They are moody, and get irritated just like us. It sound like they are fine.
