It is a blood blister which is probably filled with infected (bad) blood. When a dog has an internal infection that affects the blood, the same as any infection it works its way to the surface ie boil, pimple. Take your dog to the vet to ensure there is no infection present but do it quick because infected blood can cause liver problems. If your dog is a pure breed, i would definately worry, because immune system problems are more prevalent than you think, due to some breeders, breeding too close in the bloodline.

Most definitely take it to a vet. My dog had one too and I was told not to worry about it...until is began to grow. This could well even be a tumour (mine was) and you dont need to take a risk. Have it taken care of. Besides, these things most probably have a unhealthy stuff circulating through your pets blood stream.

Our pets have no way of telling us they are in discomfort or in pain. We need to act on what we see and treat them with the degree of love they give us. They are totally dependent on us for their welfare after all :)

Hope this helps.

I agree with Jake, go check with your vet. Then do what she says to do and all should be well!
