You have a lot of information from people who care. I currently am dealing with end stage liver disease. Mine was caused by an iron overload which wasn't caught in time. A liver transplant is in my future but my goal right now is to eat healthy and work to stay as healthy as I can. No alcohol period! Just loads up the liver and especially with your HepC can really be a problem.

Who diagnosed you? That would be a good starting point. A doctor can help with agency's. With me I am on disability but we are raising money through donations as well as selling items in yard sales plus giving up extras like my boat and so on. This particular foundation will match my transplant fund dollar for dollar. If you are with family, see if they can get you the doctor appointments you need while applying for government assistance. Good luck and hope you take care of yourself.

Depends on what treatment you are hoping to get. I have chronic Hepatitis from Hep C and I don't require any treatment, although they wanted me to go on a trial drug to see if they could eradicate the virus. I just look after myself. Moderate drinking, keep away from fats, etc. My brother has it also and had the treatment and is Hep C free. But he needed to do it as he'd already had a liver transplant. It is not nice. Bit like getting chronic fatigue syndrome for a whole year. There are lots of Hep C web sites will useful tips and information. Depends where you are. Could help you more if I knew more info.

first of all i'd like to tell mr. stinks that his answer "stinks". those that have hcv don't always get hcv from drugs! for the person who said to "drink in moderation"- NO ALCOHOL PERIOD. Alcohol is a toxin and gives HCV a free ride to do much damage, much faster!

now, as far as treatment options without paying you can ask your doctor if you qualify for a study. usually the pharmicutical companies will pay for your medications.

i would advise you to apply for disability, however, that can take up to two years.

i would call your local department of human service office and have them send out an application for medicaid. you may even qualify for food stamps and if you have kids and are not working, you might be able to get insurance for them as well.

the best word of advice- if at all possible is to move home to a relatives house and do your treatment- the less stress the better outcome.

i wish you well.

you can always check with schering ploughs committment to care program as well, listed on their website.

With no insurance or employment you should be able to apply for your social security disability and get it with your diagnosis. Also, in the mean time you should qualify for Medicaid and they will pay for your injections and treatment. I know because I helped to do a physicians study for Hep C in the past. Good luck.

Since I dont know where you are from, my suggestion is to find a local hospital - I know that county hospitals generally are not the best (putting it mildly in some cases) but alot of them have special programs available at low or no cost. If not check with your local parish(es) and see what programs they can hook you up with. There is always an answer to any question. Wishing you the very best and keep your chin up!

Go to your nearest Social Service office and sign up for Medicaid. If you have no income, you should qualify. Explain that you have these conditions and need help ASAP. Don't wait!! Good luck to you!

Hi Katytex

Here are some alternative ideas to heal oneself.

In recent years, hepatitis C has been on the increase. It is most frequently caused as a result of blood transfusions. Typically, people with hepatitis C are identified either because they have abnormal liver tests or because of a hepatitis C antibody test. A positive test does not necessarily mean serious liver disease, however. People with hepatitis C may have no liver disease, a mild form of chronic hepatitis, or a more serious form of hepatitis that may progress over a number of years to cirrhosis. The usual indications are a positive antibody test for the hepatitis C virus, abnormal liver tests for more than six to twelve months, and a liver biopsy that shows chronic active hepatitis. Approximately 20% of patients chronically infected with the hepatitis C virus will go on to develop cirrhosis.

Note: Infectious hepatitis can be easily spread two weeks before and one week after jaundice appears. The feces of people with hepatitis contain the virus. Therefore, very strict toilet hygiene and hand and cloth washing should be observed during this time.

Natural Cures

Aromatherapy: Rosemary can help stimulate liver function.

Diet: Follow a diet low in protein and high in fresh vegetables to minimize stress on the liver. Also eat small meals throughout the day, and avoid foods such as refined sugars, alcohol, and caffeine, which cause stress on the liver, and be sure to drink plenty of filtered water. Drinking fresh lemon juice water every morning and evening followed by vegetable juice is also recommended to help liver function. Easily digested grains, such as millet, buckwheat, and quinoa, are also good food choices.

Enemas: Three warm enemas administered daily can help boost liver function.

Herbs: The liver-cell regenerative properties of herbs such as milk thistle and licorice can be helpful. Take 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture three times a day. Tumeric combined with milk thistle has also been shown to help alleviate the symptoms of hepatitis B.

Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment. We suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments. Please seek the advice of your alternative health care practitioner before undergoing these procedures to make sure they are appropriate for you.
*Purified water is essential for any hydrotherapy treatment. Remedies for Treating Chlorinated Bath Water offers clear instructions and recommendations. .

Juice Therapy: The following juice combinations can be helpful: beet, carrot, and wheat grass juice; or garlic, burdock, flax, and black currants.

Nutritional Supplementation: Supplement with vitamin C, beta carotene, liver glandulars, milk thistle extract, vitamin B complex, adrenal glandulars, lipotropic factors, pantothenic acid, free-form amino acids, betaine hydrochloric acid (HCL), multi-enzymes, and evening primrose oil.

Alternative Professional Care
If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating hepatitis: Ayurveda, Acupuncture, Detoxification Therapy, Magnetic Field Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, and Oxygen Therapy.

Best of health to you

please re-phrase or clarify your question and give more details, eg; where are you from ? im sure there are lots who want to give suggestions but you might get confused if they direct you to a branch of government that deals with public health and that branch may not exist or have a differnt name in your country...( in the U. S. they have Medicare, its called a different name in European countries...)
