does it always seem to be such hard work? It almost seems like it's more work than it's worth! Any thoughts?

I think a relationship is only great when all of the hard work is worth it. Maybe you were in a lot of relationships that weren't worth the effort you put in to it...

Been there...recently separated/divorced. It is hard work and you need to communicate a lot to maintain the relationship. But, if you feel that its stagnant and not moving in the direction that is productive and fulfiling...you may want to decide to move on

relationships are a full time job you always have to work at it. if you really love this person then it wont bother you. just wait until you get married lol now that is a 24 7 job there. good luck an hang in there ( if you really love him)

love may be complacated but if you think its not worth it then you must not love that person to much...if its right then it will all fall into place but that does not mean that it is not going to take some compramise and some time...good luck!!
