I don't like that term--"cheap grace." I think God's gift of grace is anything but cheap. But with that said, you cannot help but be changed by Christ's saving grace. If you claim to have come to Christ but your behavior doesn't change then I really wonder if you have truly come to Christ. I heard a Dr. James Kennedy sermon where he noted how he was talking to a college student about God and Christ and all of that business. The student asked, "if I accept Christ can I just go on sinning and then still go to Heaven?" Kennedy replied that if you really do accept Christ YOU WON'T EVEN WANT TO SIN! Accepting Christ changes you wholly.
Of course Christians do sin. But they only do so when they take their eyes off the ball, so to speak. When they dump Christ for the world they sin. But as long as one is focused on Jesus they won't be led astray.

I think living a life without discipleship would cheapen God's grace if that was possible for a believer to do, and no we can't sin as much as we like after becoming a believer.
The Bible tells us that we have to do away with those things we did when we were new believers and strive to be more like Christ everyday, all day.

God will always forgive us, but we won't get very far if we keep walking backwards. The Bible says to "Come out from among them (sinners) and be ye separate." We as Christians are not supposed to be doing what the world does. If we go on sinning in spite of God's sacrifice, what was the point of Him doing it. Jesus took on our sin so that we could be free from it. God can't use us to save a dying world if we are acting just like the world. God's getting tired of us being so lax and comfortable in our mess. It's time for us to take an inventory of our own hearts, get rid of the mess, and be about our Father's business .

It is true that to be saved means that you have no desire to sin and to want to live according to God's path. We are not perfect, we are all sinners and we must ask for forgiveness...to be saved means that you desire to be pure in heart for when the day comes that the Lord comes to take his followers home, he can see our true selves and recognize our desire to become perfect in His eyes and receive His eternal Gifts.

I happen to agree with you. Yes, we need grace to be forgiven. And yes, we need grace to help us in our daily walk. But if we aren't even making an effort to do better, how long with the Spirit strive with us?
Woah, now I'm preaching at myself. I better listen...

Technically, you've already received grace, so their's no way to lose it.
But, if you've truely received it, being indwelled by the Holy Spirit, you'd have less desire to go against God - more of a desire to serve Him.

no, the whole point is to repent of our ways. we must turn completely around. if we sin on the way, we are forgiven, but i believe our heart must be in the right place. we cannot lead a sinful life and just hope. it has to be a change of heart
