Over the Christmas Holiday, I spent a few days at my sister's house. It was really dark and foggy and I accidently ran over the cat with my car. She died instantly, but it was terrible. There was blood and guts everywhere. I put all the body parts in a garbage bag and dumped it in the back of a nearby restaurant.

I feel really bad. My sis thinks someone took her or it got injured and somehow can't get back home. Her and her friend made flyers and posted it everywhere.

I feel like if I tell her the truth, she'll hate me forever. But, if I don't I'll feel really guilty for it. I'm leaning on not ever telling her.

Your statement, "I feel like if I tell her the truth, she'll hate me forever. Forever is a very long time...and truly, do you really believe that she will hate you forever? Maybe you are just very upset at yourself for what appears to you as, being your fault...it was an accident for Pete Sakes. Your reaction to this is quite normal. Most people, to a lesser or greater degree than yours, would feel the same way. I know I would have felt bad if it had been me instead of you. I feel confident that you already know that nothing lasts forever (even her hate and your guilt in this case) and that time is a great healing gift that we all have, including for you and your sister. If you do not tell her the truth she will go through life believing that someone really did take her wonderful cat or that it was injured. I know you don't want to tell her but it could haunt you in the near future when the subject comes up again, because... only you would know the real truth. You have received some answers from a lot of us who care about you situation. Is it possible that you could soon use this experience as a practice for a sit down conversation between a brother and his sister whom you seem to love and care about so much? I urge you to tell her like you have told us in this safe and peaceful place. Bless you and I wish you both the very best in your healing.

Unless your sister is completely irrational then she should understand that this was the chance she took by letting her cat out in the first place. I think you need to be honest it was an accident. Let her know that the cat didn't suffer and that you feel horrible about it. I'd tell her that you didn't tell her sooner because you thought that she'd never forgive you but that you didn't want her to wonder what happened to the cat any longer.

I've read the other questions that you've asked and you sound like my brother. I'm not sure if you actually ran over your sister's cat if you did I think you need to tell her but you must really entertain your family. From the questions you have asked you have an off sense of humor. Thumbs up!

The right thing to do is to tell her I think.
Would you want to know if table was turned. She may be angry an upset but it was an accident and let her know it was a horrible accident an u did not want to hurt her but felt it was best to be honest and at least rest her mind an stop w/the flyers to search.

good luck

You'll have to tell her sooner or later. Because it'll be worse if someone saw you and tells your sister or if she finds out herself that you ran over her cat. Be honest with her and tell her as soon as possible because the longer you deny it, the more she'll hate you when you finally tell her.

If you don't tell her then you'll send your sister depressed over not finding out what happened to her cat. Come on, don't you feel for your sis? Tell her now. Good luck.

This is what I think you should do.Wright her a letter and tell her that you saw one of her flyers and it was you .BUT DONT put your name to it. Mail it from another town.
But i think you should come clean with her. How would you fell?
And why dont you stop over there and take her to get a new cat?

Don't tell her, your window of opportunity has passed, in time she will get over it, and once the flyers all fade and fall off, she will let it go, and move on and maybe find another cat.

The truth is always the best. Tell her what happened. It was an accident, she'll understand. Great story to tell your grand kids though, even though it's sad.

You should have told her straight away, you've kept it for too long now!!

i know if someone ran over my cat i'd want them to tell me straight away, i'd be sad... but would forgive the person

but because u've kept it, its pretty bad.

maybe you could get her a kitten, and tell her its just a present so that she is happy again?

i cant believe u didn't tell
