the only way we can make ourselves right before the Lord is taking on the Righteousness of Christ- how can we do that? Admit that we are not righteous, that we are sinners, accept Jesus' death on the cross for our payment for sin. Repent and turn from your sins and believe that Jesus can make you knew. WE cannot make ourselves right, that is why Jesus came to earth.

No 'if' about it! Your (and my) righteousness is as filthy rags. We cannot do anything to make ourselves righ before God and earn a place in heven.
Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness - not based on ANY of his good works.
We can put our faith in Jesus and that fact that He died to take our punishment for our sin. We can be washed clean from our sin and stand in the righteousness of Jesus - not like filthy rags. We can be justified by faith.
Do the 'good works' still but not to attain salvation but to show the love of God to those arround us.

the most oftentimes going on answer on the time of posting is depending in easy words on Christianity, whom's afterlife, and fairly a lot any afterlife for that reason, won't be able to be shown or disproven, and till the technologies is developed to view the afterlife, this question continues to be unsolved. the nearest ingredient to being waiting to figure between 2 planes of life is truth checks in desires. you're useless, beaten or shot to lack of life years in the past, and in purgatory, or you are able to basically have a life in which each of the variables artwork adverse to you. the in consumer-friendly words ingredient we may be able to do is our suitable in any difficulty, and desire that what we are doing doesn't poorly impact any destiny result.

Tell them that we are not justified by our works and even on our best day it is still not good enough to get us into heaven, but that we are justified by our faith.
The Bible says it is impossible to please God without faith-and having faith is harder to do than 'good works' in my opinion.
