I have two pockets near the back of my throat (one on either side)which I think are connected to my sinuses/ears/etc. Every now and then they produce these strange off-white , foul smelling, crumbly lumps of matter which seem to be totally harmless but are very irritating as they sometimes get stuck there and will not budge. I've never met anybody else who gets anything like this. What is the weird stuff? Please! I've been wondering about this for ears.

Tonsiloliths - yup, they are harmless!
I think it's just garbage from the cavities of your tonsils coming up. Nothing really to do about it, except get your tonsils out if it really bothers you. Best!

I think I know what you mean maybe- just get a long q-tip and swab off the gunk, could be old chunks of food. Ask the dentist next time you are there.

This is your tonsils putting off clumps of infection.. yes, it does smell really bad. Your doctor may suggest a tonsilectomy and remove them if they are a serious problem for you. If it does not happen too often it will be ok.. it is one of your body's defense mechanisims kicking in.
Spit them out.. don't swallow!

no doctor but i would see 1 tomorro it has
to be atype of bactiria if that gets inside you
heavens knows it most likly only needs
a course of antibeotics so see one today

i cough up the same thing from time to time. most foul smelling stuff ever. i thought it was from smoking?
