I took two pregnancy tests last week, when my period was about a day late. The first one showed a light, light pink line indicating a postive result. So, I retested the next day and I got a darker pink line. So I'm thinking I'm pregnant. But 5 days later, (3days ago) I started bleeding and I'm thinking I'm having a misscarriage but I take another HPT and it looks negative. I bled for 2 days and today every other time I wipe, its a light pink. Could I be prenant and maybe because the last test was a different brand, it wasnt as sensitive? Could implantation bleeding occur 5 days atfer a missed period?

all hpt tests require different levels of hcg, so yes its very plausable that one could show yes when one is inconclusive. You need to contact your obgyn asap to have a hcg and progestrone level checked, if you are pg and your progestrone levels are low they can inject you and save the pg however if your hcg levels are dropping off there is nothing that can be done. I am afraid that I know this because I lost 2 babies before becoming pg with my current baby. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Yeppers I am living proof that home pregnancy tests are NOT accurate. LOL. When my now ex sister in law was having pregnancy symptoms she decided to try a home pregnancy test...the pharmacy she went to was having a sale on the brand she wanted and in order to get it at the sale price she had to purchase two of them. Rather than keep the 2nd test until she threw it out I told her to give it to me and as a lark I took it. Right away it changed and showed a deffinate positive...Her's on the other hand showed negative...two days later in the doctor's office she got a positive...However we all got quite a laugh out of my positive since six months prior I had a total hyseterectomy!

You can't get a false positive. If you did miscarry you need to see a doctor to make sure the dead baby isn't sitting up there wrotting. It can make you very sick. Occasionally urine can be contaminated with blood or gross amounts of protein leading to inaccurate results. Certain forms of cancer, such as choriocarcinoma (an extremely rare type of cancer usually found in the uterus) can cause an elevation in hCG levels as well as certain types of breast, ovarian or testicular cancer leading to a false positive result. Expired tests or faulty home pregnancy tests can also lead to false positive results. Always check the expiration date before testing to assure accurate results. Certain medications such as phenothiazine can interfere with test results. You should also be sure to read the instuctions carefully. Many tests need to be timed correctly. If you wait longer than the time on the box to look at it, an extra line may show up.

i'll tell you what the doctor told me " test will lie to you all day long and say that you're not pregnate, but it's very very hard to get one to say you are if you are not"
