Mold has to have a moisture source in order to grow. Get rid of the moisture source. Take a spray bottle with a mixture of 25% bleach and 75% water and spray lightly anywhere you see the mold. Make sure the baby is in another room. Bleach will kill the mold. Not to good for the baby either. Good Luck

I once worked for a co. that sold industrial grade mold disinfectant and can tell you that black mold certainly kills elderly people, infants, and anyone with a compromised immune system.

You can buy the stuff yourself but in some instances you'll have to hire someone to apply it. DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. Disturbing the mold will shake loose the spores and will fly into the air (those things travel for miles). Hire a professional to apply it.

I once received a call at my former job about an elderly man who asked us to tell his daughter over the phone why she shouldn't have her husband sand away lead paint in their home. He was in the middle of doing it (wanted to save a few bucks) and I handed the phone to our rep. He told her "STOP. Drop what your doing. Pick up your baby and immediately get out of the house. Now call 911 because this kid has been exposed to lead dust flying around the house" (it's no longer called lead poisoning- it's legally called Brain Damage). I can't imagine what learning disabilities this kid developed as a result and will have for the rest of his life, but the mom freaked and they decided to hire a professional applicator to finish the job.

This has nothing to do with mold, but you are taking a tremendous risk with your child even if it's a minimal amount of mold. It might not be just delegated to the carpets. Once moisture is in the floor and walls, it's hard to prevent it from spreading. You have to get rid of it with some disinfectant, then apply a coating to prevent further growth.

Please go down to the webpages I listed below and speak to someone who is qualified in this area. Also, I believe there is some kind of grant you can qualify for if your home is being destroyed by mold to fix it (I'm sorry, I don't remember what it was called but it was some kind of government assistance- you'll have to Google it). I wish you and your baby good luck and happy health in this new year.

When my husband and I moved into our older home, we found mold everywhere. We literally ripped up all the carpeting and bleached the floors. Bleach kills mold and mildew. We then bought new carpets. I'll bet you there's more mold in that room if you look and having a baby in there, it isn't healthy.

Good luck.

After you remove the carpet and kill the mold, you can paint the floor and/or use a floor cloth, which can be painted to match your decor. If you want carpet, some carpet stores sell remnants which they will bind (the edges) for you.

get an empty spray bottle and fill it half with bleach and half with water, Spray the area generously with this solution. Wait an hour and do this again. keep treating and it will go away. Then you need to figure out why this mold is growing in that spot and address the source.
