I'm not an expert but don't think coffee is bad for my skin. I've been drinking coffee since my high school days and I have never experienced any adverse effects. Of course, anything taken in excess is not good for one's health and I do recommend that people should not drink coffee excessively.

Now, if you're talking about coffee being used by spas as skin exfoliants and body moisturizers, some spas have concocted coffee blends that are the main ingredient for their invigorating rubs/massages. It's supposed to be a refreshing and energizing spa experience while exfoliating and moisturizing the skin.

I don't really know if these have therapeutic properties since I have yet to try it out.

I guess the only answer I have for you about coffee being bad for your skin is this -- if you're allergic to coffee or caffeine, then it is definitely bad for you.
