It would be interesting and I would wonder what made them convert

Okay... I'm guessing that about 70% of the people responding to this question will be negative (maybe even mean spirited) and the rest will give you a pat answer. Here's as balanced as I can be.

You wouldn't hold the Lord responsible if, after 30 years of being a Christian a person chose to renounce his or her faith and become an atheist. Fairness would dictate that the opposite must be equally true. At the end of the day the entire issue is a matter of faith.

I wouldn't necessarily refer to it as a miracle. More like a statistic. As people become older they tend to look more on the life after death issue. They realize their number is coming up and want to take certain measures. Through experience as a convalescent transporter, I've found that more often than not the elderly are very religious. It's that matter of being present with the post life options of an eternity of torment in Hell or eternal bliss in Heaven. So the decision usually sways to Heaven and many elderly or I'd say those post 50's become religious simply due to the idea that they don't want to take their chances with non-belief.

Of course it is. It's a miracle when anyone becomes a Christian.

Since you raised the topic of "conversion," I wonder what all of our nontheist friends think about Antony Flew's change of mind. He clearly hasn't become a Christian, but if he were posting Q&A here on Y!A, I don't imagine he'd be rabidly attacking Christianity the way they do.

I don't know that I'd call it a miracle, but it is very special ... !

And it does happen.

Case in point: Bernard Nathanson. He was an atheist and an abortionist -- until he became a Catholic and a pro-life activist.

No. It means he had some doubt in his stance as an atheist. Probably, after 30 years, he was getting older, and all the words he heard, things such as Pascal's argument and such brought out his doubts.

Maybe he's just hedging his bets.

Peace!
Yes it is. More so if people were praying for that person's conversion. Proves the power of prayer and brings others to God.
God bless!

It's a miracle he lived through the conversion and didn't turn into a babbling, bible-thumping nut-basket.
