You have other sensors and ignition components. You may need a new command module.

The two most common problems with the 95 cherokee turning over but not starting are the crank position sensor on the side of the transmission(hard to get at) and the Pick-up coil in the bottom of the distributor. I just replaced the pick up coil on mine and it fixed it. Unfortunatley neither one is easy to check at home because they are hooked up to the computer, but a good shop can scan it for you and tell you which one is broken. Neither are really hard to replace if you have some knowledge of cars. You can also to get your computer to give you fault codes by flashing the check engine light a number of times. Do a search on jeep cherokee fault codes, and it should be easy to find a website with the procedure and a list of codes. Also if you get the haynes repair manual it has a list in there. BTW Mine has 238000 miles and is still going!

If it turns over but wont run then I would think that you are not getting either spark or fuel. Since you said that you just replaced the coil (was it a coil or a distributer cap, wires and plugs?) I would think that you are not getting spark. Most of the time if your throttle position sensor, cam position sensor or crank position sensor are failing, your jeep will run- just not well. If you verify that you have spark then pick up a pressure gauge and see what the fuel pressure is at the fuel rail and go from there. I would not throw parts at it until you are 100% sure that you have spark and fuel

First things first.... just ignore the idiots who answer questions by insulting the questioner. Cherokees will run forever as long as they're maintained. I have a 1992 Laredo with 210k and a 1998 Sport with 103k.
One possibility that hasn't been covered in previous answers is a burned out crank switch. It's something that rarely fails, but if it did, would cause the symptoms you're having. Good luck, and keep on Jeepin.

many issues to check; but first hold apark plug wire off ( about 1/4 inch ) you should see it spark when someone turns it over.
Got gas in tank but to the engine, are you sure? you can try sarter fluid to make sure, yes a car will run on starter fluid alone for awhile. Those jeep fuel pumps are notorious and they are as hard to change as their heater core, HARD!.
Anyone mess with the timeing? shounds like you would know if it wasn't fireing, there is also a crank shaft postion sensor on most of those Jeeps (I am not 100% sure of yours with out the engine info) but if it is that sensor itr ani't hard but you need a hoist to make it halfway understandable for an inexperienced person.
Try talking to a counter person at your local big auto store and READ one of those manuals for help, they are great for giving common problem solutions, good luck.

ROFL... your question answers itself... ITS BECAUSE ITS A JEEP CHEROKEE! you are prolly driving the only '95 cherokee that hasnt been thrown in the junkyard. Dont bother keep replacing parts.. thats what my mom is doing and she has officially dug herself into a hole. Youll just end up chasing your tail until it finally explodes. Once you fix something.. something else will break.. soon enough youll find yourself getting christmas cards from your mechanic. For the money youll spend trying to save this p.o.s. car -- you will have had enough money to buy yourself a brand new car... which is basically what my mom has done...
once you fix the ignition module.. youll find out something else is broken too.. trust me

If u have a scaner check for codes. Look for crank sensor reading. Chances are your crank sensor failed. Also check the reading on your cam sensor. That is just to make sure. Most likely cause is the crank sensor.

Perhaps it's the battery. Try getting a new battery if possible. That's happened to my car before and I got a new battery and that turned out to be the case. The range on batteries varies depending on the car, manufacture, etc. Hope it helps!
