That is pretty amazing!I have an American Bulldog who is almost 3 years old and I had a very similar experience.Gator, "My American Bulldog" fought off another dog in my defense.I was at a friends house and I was in her garage with Gator and my Australian Shepherd, "Tasman."Out of nowhere another Australian Shepherd came running in the garage. He came running at me with teeth showing.I covered my face and yelled get out. That was when the Australian Shepherd knocked me down.He tried biting me on my back. That is when Gator, "my American Bulldog grabbed him and slung him off of me.Gator has never started a fight with another dog even when other dogs pick at him.Gator let him go and the dog came back after me.He didn't get to me this time, because Gator jumped in between me and the other dog and grabbed him by the throat.I did not want Gator to kill the dog, so I yelled for my friend's husband.Gator let loose as soon as I told him to, but the other dog would not give up.He kept coming back for more. Finally we were able to chase him off and get the garage door shut.My Australian Shepherd, "Tasman", was also trying to help, but she is so old that she couldn't help out much. This just told me how much your dogs trust in you and will do anything when it comes to protecting their owners. It also told me that all dogs can be mean.I have raised Australian Shepherds and have never run into a mean one.We never found the owner of the dog that attacked. He was beautiful and well taken care of other than being free to roam. This told me how any dog can be mean if not raised right.I don't blame the dog and I feel very sorry for pets like him.

He was acting true to breed!

"American Bulldogs should not be excessively timid, shy or aggressive towards man and preferably not overly aggressive with other dogs. An American Bulldog should never be confused with uniquely different breeds such as the American Staffordshire Terrier or the American Pit Bull Terrier. The American Bulldog is a brave and determined, but not hostile dog. Alert and self-confident, this breed genuinely loves children. It is known for its acts of heroism towards its master. These dogs have fought wild dogs, bulls and even fire. It is said "fighting off one of these dogs is like fighting an animal that possesses an alligator's head and a python's body." Yet when called off by their handler, they immediately obey. No wonder they are said to have "true grit, true devotion and true love." Because of its strong protective instincts, the American Bulldog should be well-socialized and obedience trained at an early age. Some may be aggressive with other dogs and reserved with strangers. They need to be around people to be truly happy."

That's an awesome story!

These are the stories about pits that people need to hear. You have a wonderful dog if this is a true story *knows better than to believe everything on the internet, just what the onion says* These are the family dogs that no one knows. Train them well and they are not a threat, but can sense when they are needed. Dogs can read people with bad intentions, never trust a person your dog doesn't trust.

That's a great story to hear about a bulldog. See, that's the thing, they are very loyal dogs and yours proved that they are. But even though he was protecting you some how another negative story will come out about them, that another bulldog attacked someone. CUDO'S to your dog though, I think mine would do the same what ever it takes to protect his respectful owner.

Its amazing. My dog is a Husky, and the breed is considered
too dumb to defend owners.

As a result, I rely on my own dog. A concealed dog. The kind
you put bullets in.

The guy could attack you, sue you, and win. But if you just shoot him, theres no paperwork and no problem. I love the way the world works.

You are really lucky, blessed...whatever you want to call it..but I gotta tell ya that there aren't many people that have a dog that'll go that far for a human.
It's real obvious that you and your dog are tight!!!!
There should be more people like you and your dog in the world!!!!

I think your dog is bloody awesome.

But I also think someone's gonna turn around and find a way to blame the dog for biting the other guy. Stupidity is human nature. Even those of us who fancy ourselves quite intelligent have our downfalls in certain ignorances.

That is the prime example of why we have dogs. They are great. They are family members that paly when you want to play, and will risk their life to save ours. I always say our best guardian angel is our dogs. and you have the perfect example! Way to go! I would give him a massage.

You got yourself one loyal dog man. Don't let its victory over the bad guy go to the dogs head though. Nothing worse than a dog with a big ego. lol.

thats good and all but the thing is the dog has problems with letting you get hurt-its extremly good but if someone stupidly sued you or said the dog was "vicous" and knowing it has attacked-not so good for the dog, but im soo happy you and the doggie are ok, plus i hope the damn dude is in jail!
