I've actually read the other posting. The best thing you could do for your Father at this time is to:

a. GET a job
b. GO back to school and complete your education
c. PAY back the value of the totalled truck (that you self-admitted you destroyed).
d. Treat ALL your father's children the same ... and don't go out of your way to be deliberately cruel to others ...
e. Treat ALL the Adults in your father's life with RESPECT and Dignity.
f. Don't threaten harm to anyone.

Make him a coupon book. Put in it thing that you are willing to do for him to make his day easier. Like mow the lawn take out the trash. Make him breakfast. Or even just promise to give him a day with out asking for anything and no whining. I did it for my dad when I was 17 and he still has the book. He told me the other day that was one of the best presents he ever got. You could as make him a hat and scarf. They are easy and use full. Some of the patterns don't even require sewing.

I agree with the coupon book...my daughters made me one for mother's day several years ago and I treasure it! It was nice on a Saturday when I wanted to relax with a book to know that I could "just this once" because they had given me a coupon for a "day off" where they fixed the meals and cleaned up. Or to know that I could use the "early curfew" coupon on a Friday night when I was really tired and didn't want to stay up late waiting for them to come home.

My family draws names every year for a "homemade" Christmas present....another idea is a calendar that lists important dates and features pictures of you growing up....it's easy to do in microsoft. If you're dad drinks coffee....look for a ceramic shop in your town and make him a special cup (we did that for grandparents one year...each of my daughters painted cups)

Hope this helps.....

Try a photo collage. Just get a whole lot of photos of you and your dad. put a big picture of him in the middle and arrange smaller cut photos around it. You can also include photos of other family members. This way he can see all the good times he has had with you and yours.
