I may have to do this for a summer job - if I do that, however, do I have to change it back to an Ontario license in the fall? Or do I still retain my Ontario driver status and just have a license for two different provinces?

Also - do you have to take an additional test? I need to change my license because I will be away for 4 months and I need to upgrade it under Alberta standards for a particular job.

If you are going to be in Alberta for less than 3 months then you do not have to change your drivers license or vehicle plates or insurance over to Alberta. I doubt any company would ask you to change your drivers license over as your Ontario license is good anywhere in Canada. I live in Ontario and go to Alberta quite often for work, all companies have recognized my Ontario License.

If you really must change your drivers license over, you actually go to the nearest CAA/AMA Canadian Auto Association/Alberta Motor Association. They can do everything for you right there.

The answer to your final question is that you can not have a license in more than one province. If you switch to Alberta, they will take your old card, give you a new one, and they process everything so your Ontario License is no longer valid. But no worries, when you come back to Ontario, you just go to the motor registry place with your Alberta license and they will do the transfer back to Ontario for you again. But I would only switch then if absolutely necessary as it's a pain and cost money.

you will desire to cutting-edge a recent replica of an precis, if asked. The suspension information would be there. yet, frequently, they do a a working laptop or computing gadget verify besides (i've got under no circumstances mandatory an precis at the same time as changing province), and the suspension will easily be there.

don't change unless you move permanently , then just go to motor vehicles and the nice people there will change it for you , providing you pay the fines you have and about $35 processing fee
