Disconnect the negative battery cable, then pull the old stereo out, then get the correct wiring diagram for the new stereo thats compatible with you vehicle, then connect the new wires, then install the new stereo's brackets (if applicable) to your dash where your old stereo was, then put the new one in and reconnect the battery cable. Thats basically it, the most of the work will be doing the wiring, which can sometimes be difficult if you dont know how to read the diagrams. My best advice is to pay the 100 dollars or so to get it installed professionally and correctly.
A BIG NOTE! ALWAYS, AND I MEAN ALWAYS, disconnect the negative battery cable when working with wiring, you can do alot of damage to your components of your stereo and even your ECU.

first: make sure you have a good ground, when checking the volt reading from your "yellow" wires. 2: check the volt reading (with everything off) at the plug in to your deck. If it's a low reading, check it again before your wiring harness. If it's still low, check it at the "factory" plug in. 3: if all you're getting is 1v, i would run a new wire either directly from your battery, or another 12 v constant source. Sometimes, there may be a poor connection when splicing the wires together, or there may be a poor connection when the wires are plugged into a harness. I would still give them a very slight "tug" to ensure they are in place and solid. I think you're problem lies in a bad connection somewhere. What I like to do; once the wiring is correct, wrap all the wires in electrical tape for safe measures. That should prevent any further connection issues in the future. Good luck

1. Read the instructions
a.Buy Adapter plug to fit your car radio wiring harness
2. Remove old radio
3. Install new radio
If you don't know how to remove the old radio your model new car dealer can show you a copy of the procedure or if they are very nice thay will make you a copy if the instructions. Say please.
Sometimes a special tool is needed. Many auto parts stores have the tool or can order it for you.
The Ford tool for some models is $6.00. Go online and search radio removal for your car

I agree with that dude that said pay 100 bucks.....if you insist on doing it yourself, which isnt that hard, if you buy your stereo from crutchfield.com, they will send you instructions, but you will also need some tools if you dont already have them.

Make sure you connects the right wires because you dont want to end up blowing up your speakers......especially if they are factory ones.
