I find that I am extremely afraid at times that someone is going to break into my house and hurt or kill me. I am trying to come up with some Bible verses I can recite when I begin to feel afraid. Any suggestions? Thank you!

*Please give the Scripture reference with the verse.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident. (Psalm 27: 1, 3)

I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. (Psalm 34:4)

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles. (Psalm 34:17)

EXO 18:20 Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you,
so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. (Psalm 62:1-2)

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11: 28-31)

Remember God is the only man you must fear...He is a rock..trust in Him and fear Him only and He will protect you.... here's a little quote that helps me out when I'm scared..."Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear---not absence of fear."

Verses About Being Afraid

Well if you feel afraid of a break in, the first thing you should get is some kind of alarm system.

"The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? I will look in triumph on my enemies." Psalm 118:6-7

That verse is right after my favorite verse, "In my anguish I cried to the Lord and he answered by setting me free." Psalm 118:5

Get a hugge dog. Try not to think about it or worry about it. It may never happen. Get good dead bolt locks and do everything you can to make sure you are safe.

I admit is is scarey to wake up and a man is drunk and on drugs and trying to steal your TV. This happenned to me. I was sound assleep and my little dogs woke me up attacking someone and I heard a man cussing. I got up ran into the living room turned on the light and a man was in my house. I tried to call 911 and he threw a shoe at me and hit me in the head and threatened to kill my. I went into the bedroom and got myrevolver, which was not loaded, but was hoping he would not notice. He still came at me until I pulled the hammer back and pointed the weapon in his face then he left.

I now have about 3 locks on each door and every single revolver and pistal I own is loaded and ready. That was 7 years ago this month. I will not be broke into again. I have had my guns loaded and within reach ever since.

Those thoughts are just attacks of the Devil trying to shake your faith in God. Cast down those thoughts as SOON as you get them!

We have powerful spiritual weapons, given by God to combat Satan (2 Corinthians 10:5&6). ALL Believers have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), so we CAN take control of our thoughts and make them obey us.
During those most difficult times, learn to think on the things of God and not your situation, and He will give you His peace, which passes all understanding (Phillipians 4:7).

Here are a few relevant Scriptures:

Matthew 10:28 "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Psalm 56:11 "In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me."

Psalm 118:6 "The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?"

Hebrews 13:5&6 "...He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."

Personally, Psalm 91 is my favorite Scripture regarding protection.

Why are you so afraid of being attacked? Try to find out exactly where your fear is coming from and address it quickly, before you cause it to happen. Job said, "the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me." (Job 3:25)

Remember: "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)

Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Psalm 34:7
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Fear is of the flesh, so walk in the Spirit, and you will not fear anything.

Luke 12:4 "I tell you, my friend, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

You don't need the bible to get over your fear. Just realize how infinitesimal the chances are of you being singled out by a malicious person. Just relax.

Psalm 27
Triumphant Song of Confidence
Of David.
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strongholda of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When evildoers assail me
to devour my flesh--
my adversaries and foes--
they shall stumble and fall.

3 Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident.

4 One thing I asked of the LORD,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the LORD,
and to inquire in his temple.

5 For he will hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will set me high on a rock.

6 Now my head is lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the LORD.

7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud,
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 "Come," my heart says, "seek his face!"
Your face, LORD, do I seek.
9 Do not hide your face from me.

Do not turn your servant away in anger,
you who have been my help.
Do not cast me off, do not forsake me,
O God of my salvation!
10 If my father and mother forsake me,
the LORD will take me up.

11 Teach me your way, O LORD,
and lead me on a level path
because of my enemies.
12 Do not give me up to the will of my adversaries,
for false witnesses have risen against me,
and they are breathing out violence.

13 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the LORD!

God Bless You
