I remember when Saturns first came out that their policy was that the price on the sticker was the price for the car. I haven't heard that lately. Have you bought a new Saturn? What was your experience?

If a company advertises a "fixed price" or "no negotiation" policy,(ie: Saturn, Carmax) and then they offer to negotiate.....they'd be out of business quicker than you can say "Class Action Suit"

Most of the Saturn dealers will not move on the sticker price of the car. It may, however, be discounted due to rebates, incentives, etc. What you can haggle on is the amount they're willing to give you if you're trading a car, also interest rates, etc.

And to those who have suggested buying other cars, I've been happily beating the living hell out of my Saturn for 5 years now, AFTER it was a rental for 3 years.

The price of a Saturn is fixed. What they allow you for your trade in is negotiable. The bottom line is the net difference. I have seen Saturn dealers give up their "documentation fee" on a cash sale, but that's about it.

But then... Why a Saturn?

I've seen an ad recently with Saturns that were discounted thousands off MSRP. I don't know if they were just year end clearance or the norm. Had stuff like "Market Adjustment Rebate"....

Hard to imagine that people pay MSRP for such overpriced GM crap.... I mean it would be better to go to a Honda dealer and say "give me $1000 off and we have a deal..." You end up with a better car and about the same price as a Saturn.

A Vue an an Axiom are not the same ting at all, contrary to what some other idiot posted up there. The Vue is based on the same basic chassis as the Chevy Equinox. And yes, everything is negotiable. Go to the dealer, see what they want, and make them an offer. Car dealers have to be flexible in this economy.

No. I couldn't even weasel some free floor carpets from them. Sheesh. You can occasionally get a better deal on leftover stock (clearance) - but this too is not something you can haggle over.

BTW, Get the factory extended warranty. Despite all of their "quality" claims, my tranny blew at 50k miles (1600.00) and the cat. converter went at 90k (1000.00). I would buy one again, but not without the ext. warranty.

i cannot specifically answer your question, but anything is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, so yes. Everything is negotiable, especially in the world of cars and especially if they are not selling very well.

why do you want to buy a saturn?

pay a few bucks more and buy a nissan, toyota or honda.

a saturn has no resale value

Not a chance! I haggled for three weeks and they won't budge. If they did then their claimed "fixed price" would be a sham

Folk who buy and recommend toyota, honda, nissan, mercedes, bmw, kia etc. have no idea how they are being ripped off by those folks for repairs!
