Cocker Spaniels are good dogs but they are prone to a lot of health problems. I recommend the Jack Russell. They are they most versatile dog I have ever seen.

I have a mini schnauzer. They weigh on average between 15-20 pounds and they don't shed. The only time I see hair coming off of him is after he goes to the groomer to get a hair cut. They are fun little dogs and have a ton of energy! Do some research on them and find one from a reputable breeder. They don't have many health problems but they are prone to things such as ear infections because of the hair in the ears.
They are pretty low maintenance because they only thing my dog requires is a hair cut every 6-8 weeks.
Just look into the breed some more but they do fit your qualifications of not shedding and not being too big! Good luck!

I don't think sheding should be one of your main criteria for choosing a dog, because all dogs shed and shedding (even extensive shedding) can generally be controlled with daily grooming. I would be more concerned with Size, Energy level, Kid Friendly - these types of things. Ask yourself what dog would fit best into your lifestyle and routine: large or small, hyper or mellow, does the family have small kids, does the family have other pets? Base your dog hunt of these criteria and you are going to be more satisfied with your choice...even if it does shed. :) There are many websites that list general breed characteristics, I would check them out. Good luck!

Hi! Well those are very cute dogs. I have 3 dogs right now. Your best bet with a puppy that is very playful and smart is a Miniature Schnauzer,a Boston Terrier, Rat Terrier, or a Jack Russell. They are allll so energetic and loving. Also they don't shed!

Well, there is a dog, it is small, pretty, and does not shed hair believe it or not. This breed is a Lhasa Aspo (yes that’s how you spell their name), they are gorgeous dogs and are very playful as a puppy. They are lap dogs, and they are love bugs. Trust me I own one. Lhasa Aspo’s are very friendly dogs although they were used as guard dogs inside a house, they love to please and they enjoy being with their owners. They have a warning bark and they do not attack, they just warn, although you could teach your dog to sic to mailman or you little brother. They are friendly with other pets, although they love to play with them and children as well. Yes you have to brush a Lhasa Aspo, but as they get older and their coat gets longer you can ask their groomer to do a puppy cut. Lhasa Aspo can live in any temperature they just can’t live outside, they are an inside dog. They can live in cold or hot weather.
Try not to judge quickly when you see a Lhasa Aspo, owners like to give their dogs different cuts. A puppy Lhasa Aspo or cute little balls of fur, and as they get older their fur does grow.
Whatever dog you get make sure they are FRIENDLY!! I can not stress that enough. If a dog isn’t social with other dogs or other people they will be mean, and you don’t want that! Look up Lhasa Aspo, and tell your Mother about them. Well, I hope you will be able to find a dog soon!

honestly all dogs shed....some more than others. And sometimes it is short haired breeds that shed more (and their hair will weave into clothes and furniture. The best thing to do is to get a mixed breed dog (try adopting a puppy) If it is a poodle mix- it will likely stay smaller and shed less (They have hair more like humans and less like fur)

If you do get a cocker spaniel,be careful of your bloodlines.
My suggestion is going to www.akc.org and looking through the breeds. You can also go to your local shelter and see if there's any dogs that appeal to you. =)

cooker spaniels are alright but shiatsu are a really nice dog and they don't shed at all. My family and I have one and we don't know what we would do with out her. And they no hassle to take care of.
