Hello everyone, what is "3rd tonsil" in throat & why is it bad ? plus, how risky is removing it through a surgery ?caused due to some weird throat infection, developing a fairly large white zit...

It is not a true tonsil but a hairlike projection. Under stress it can cause a person to feel like he has something caught in his throat. That happened to me and it drove me up the wall. It took weeks to go away.

Have you ever had your tonsils out? If you had a partial grow back of one of your tonsils then you could be experiencing delayed sleep apena, which can cause serious probelms. Weird Throat infections would be strep-throat or an on slaught of the severe upper respiratory problem such as chronic tonsillitis. The white pimple you are experiencing could be from the over-load of oily foods you are eating. The constant touching of your face or even the antibiotics that you might be taking. Wash it with alcohol on a cotton swab / ball, leave your fingers off your face in a few days it will go away.

I've never heard of third tonsil. I've heard of a third kidney or nipple. That white thing you see is probably tonsilitis or strept. That white stuff gets into pockets in your tonsils. It would seem to me getting your tonsils out would be line any ordinary tonsilectomy except you have three. Did they tell you it was a very serious surgery? **** luck to you.

A third tonsil? Or are you talking about a swollen uvula? The little dangly thing in the back of your throat.
