He's a 5 month old Dobernan and I think he's playing. He also tries to grab his leash. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it because he's a puppy?

Make the leash shorter and hold it up higher to keep your dog's head up. If he tries to turn and bite you or grab the leash make sure to punish him with a simple noise(no, a grunt) If he starts to get reallly hyper make him lie down for a little bit to become calm again. make sure you walk him really long every day to get him tired. (or else later in the day you will have trouble!)

Yeah, he's probably just playing with you. I have a Samoyed puppy, who loves to just nudge my hands or legs whenever she walks past. I think it's a sign of affection and she just likes to be touched. She's one of the most affectionate dogs I've ever had.
Puppies will play with anything and everything. However if some habits are annoying, it's your job to discipline your dog through proper training and have it understand what is okay and what is not.
Doberman's are big dogs and when they become adults they are very powerful - what is playful to them can be quite painful to us. Start training at a young age, otherwise you're in for a tough time. For example jumping on you might be fun now but could cause you to fall over later on.

I think he is having fun. When I walk my pit, he does the same thing, I think he is just so happy to be out in the world. When he is ready to go home, he will jump up and grab his leash, then I know he has had enough!

A lot of dogs try to bite their leashes as they are walked. Im pretty sure even older ones. I think they are just playing, maybe your dog is teething.

This is a sign of pure pleasure in the walk and in your company. My dog is 9 years old and still jumps up and tries to steal my gloves when we're walking.

He's playing. I've always allowed my puppies to grab their leash to "walk themselves", and such. Walks should be fun, and that's just what they want to have.

when my dog was a puppy, she used to do the same thing. the get over it when they get older. just be patient and nice to your dog.
