I have pop-up blocker enabled, and it's blocking pop-ups from websites, but I still get pop-ups, often with adult content, while I'm browsing sites that don't normally have pop-ups. I've run several full scans with the three programs I mentioned, but they all say that no threats have been detected. My computer has become somewhat slower since these pop-ups began appearing.

download and install these two free spyware hunters.

spybot S&D
ad-adware (by lavasoft) SE Personal

I also like to use PC Tool's registry mechanic to clean up stuff - but the full version will cost you.

If you choose to install these products make sure you check for updates weekly to ensure maximum protection.

Have used all 3 products for years.

see below for links.

Sometimes throwing your computer into safe-mode and then running the Anti-whatever software helps by shutting down processes that the content could be running under an this helps the software by being able to check these off processes. Then again, sometimes the solution it could be as simple as deleting all the cookies and temporary Internet Files which contain data in them.

sometimes those infections need other programs or other specific instructions to get removed. Those programs help with most infections, but for specific infections, you need to get further assistance from the experts.

first you need to identify what it is. then you need to visit some forums like WWW.bleepingcomputer.com and ask the experts.

Next you need to follow their specific instructions, which could be very lengthy. But don't worry, you'll probably learn something or two.

If you have the gator, I hate that one. You can go into add/remove programs and get rid of it. Delete it and empty the garbage. Then go look under your C drive for more and delete that as well.

Spybot does not work that well, there's one called ad-aware, it's decent and works better than spybot.

download a copy of hijackthis and go to http://hijackthis.de and have it analyzed and see if you still have spyware left in.

Also remove programs you know you don't need.
