Haha thanks for putting a limit. Hasselbad, Mamiya, Holga. =) but lets be more realistic. I am assuming you will be buying a $1000 area. Canon or Nikon. Depeding on what interface you are used to or feel confortable with. You make that desicion go to a local camera shop fiddle with them and decide. Both cameras are excellent. I own a Canon XTi and I have never been happier.

Hands down it is the new 39 megapixel Hasselblad H3D or the 16 megapixel Hasselblad 503 CWD. The best thing about these SLR cameras is that they can shoot both digital and film, talk about versatility.

Digital SLR - Nikons are excellent IMHO
35mm SLR - Pentax (which I have) is the best IMO.
