The three religions agree on one basic fact: Both women and men are created by God, The Creator of the whole universe.

However, disagreement starts soon after the creation of the first man, Adam, and the first woman, Eve. The Judaeo-Christian conception of the creation of Adam and Eve is narrated in detail in Genesis (2:4-24).

God prohibited both of them from eating the fruits of the forbidden tree. The serpent seduced Eve to eat from it and Eve, in turn, seduced Adam to eat with her.

When God rebuked Adam for what he did, he put all the blame on Eve,

"The woman you put here with me --she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it."(Genesis, 3: 12).

Consequently, God said to Eve:

"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you." (Genesis, 3: 16).

To Adam He said:

"Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree of which I forbideen you to eat, “ Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life..." (Genesis, 3: 17).

The Islamic conception of the first creation is found in several places in the Qur’an, for example:

"O Adam dwell with your wife in the Garden and enjoy as you wish but approach not this tree or you run into harm and transgression. Then Satan whispered to them in order to reveal to them their shame that was hidden from them and he said: 'Your Lord only forbade you this tree lest you become angels or such beings as live forever.' And he swore to them both that he was their sincere adviser. So by deceit he brought them to their fall: when they tasted the tree their shame became manifest to them and they began to sew together the leaves of the Garden over their bodies. And their Lord called unto them: 'Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you that Satan was your avowed enemy?' They said: 'Our Lord we have wronged our own souls and if You forgive us not and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be lost' " (7:19:23).

A careful look into the two accounts of the story of the Creation reveals some essential differences.

The Qur’an, contrary to the Bible, places equal blame on both Adam and Eve for their mistake. Nowhere in the Qur’an can one find even the slightest hint that Eve tempted Adam to eat from the tree or even that she had eaten before him. Eve in the Qur’an is no temptress, no seducer, and no deceiver. Moreover, Eve is not to be blamed for the pains of childbearing. God, according to the Qur’an, punishes no one for another's faults. Both Adam and Eve committed a sin and then asked God for forgiveness and He forgave them both.

Why are we arguing about two allegorical characters in a creation myth?? Its a parable about choosing knowledge and freedom accepting all the risks you may face in leaving the comfort of your parent figure (God) to make your own way in the world. Some of you people remind me of those who call in to Soap operas and ask if they can get a house in 'Ramsey Street' or 'Coronation Street' if one becomes vacant in the plot.. It's not real..it's just a kind of story to teach.. a bit like the widow's mite or the good samaritan..the characters were made up to illustrate a point. You people need a reality check..I hope I don't get you as a plumber, bus driver or whatever..you're out on the boondocks of reality there..2 french fries short of a happy meal..your lift does not go all the way to the top floor!

God forgave them but that did not lift the curse, & you need to study a little more, The first one that was cursed was the serpent & then the woman & then Adam,, That serpent was a upright creature that could talk before the curse, & then in the curse God strips him of his legs & arms & put him into the reptile family. And those 2 trees was not literal trees Because in Gen. 2:9 God said That ALL TREES WAS GOOD for food, Those 2 trees was 2 laws of reproduction, If they had eaten(partake) of the tree of life, every child would been born with eternal life, But since they ate(partake) of the tree of knowledge of good & evil, They then found out the sexual relationship could be use for pleasure also, & not just for Reproducting another Offspring with eternal life.

It doesn't matter whose fault it was. They both ate the fruit against the command not to. But there are other things to be concidered.

God created the universe and this planet and its species, including homo sapiens, over 5 time periods. All “creatures” were created “AFTER ITS KIND” and able to “multiply” (procreate).

Then in the sixth time period Adam was created “AFTER OUR IMAGE”! Adam was created BY HIMSELF! He was given “God’s spirit”. Gen. 2:7-9, 16&17. HE was created to live indefinitely within his special environment, the Garden of Eden. That’s why it was fatal for him to eat from the “tree of knowledge of good and evil”. Gen. 2:17.

Eve was an afterthought so Adam would not be all by himself. Gen. 2:21,22

Meant to live INDEFINATELY Adam and Eve did NOT NEED to procreate! They had no sense or ambition of sexuality. Gen. 2:25. They were not ashamed – innocent.

God gave them the power of choice, to obey his instructions or not.

After eating the forbidden fruit – also known as the “original sin” - they were sexually “activated” (Gen. 3:7-11 & 16) (they were ashamed!) and God had to change His plans for them. So Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden in order to KEEP THEM AWAY from the “tree of life” which could have sustained their life (and that of now possible offsprings) indefinitely - Gen. 3:22-24.

They were now condemned to live their life in the outside world, to work for their sustanance and to procreate like the “creatures” (Neanderthals & Co.) created before them. (Gen. 3:16) They now also were destined to die like them.

I’m not sure from the text if the “original sin” was engaging in sex or disobeying God’s command which resulted in mortality and the need of procreation. But either way we, the descendents have to live with it. So while sex for procreation is not a sin, sex just for pleasure and outside of marriage is considered a sin – as in: not in God’s plan.

I don't know what the Qran sais about that. The line stated:
"Then Satan whispered to them in order to reveal to them their shame that was hidden from them..." seems to indicate the same idea.

It was Adams job to tell Eve not to eat of this fruit. The bible says that Eve did eat of the fruit and it was good, then she turned to her husband who was with her and offered the fruit to him. He was there all along. Adam wimped out and put the blame on 'eve. The way I see it God told Adam to be the ruler over not just Eve but all living things. It Was up to Adam to tell her "No you can't eat that when Satan tempted Eve.

The point is they both did eat of the forbidden fruit and fell into the sinful nature, that we all are born into when we came into the world. God, put certain punishments on both male and female, but He also, made them their clothes when they felt ashamed of their nakedness. There is no doubt that all of mankind has fallen from the lofty position he once enjoyed with God. Thankfully, with Jesus Christ we can be restored to a relationship with God again.

actually, it seems to me that G-d acknowledges that adam's sin was far greater than eve's, and gives him a far harsher punishment because of it.

what does eve get? pain in childbirth. a couple of days a year. what does adam get? G-d curses the entire ground and gives adam an entire lifetime of toil. oookay, i really don't see why people think women got the short end of the stick.

Its not Eve's fault because she was tricked to eat the fruit whereas Adam he took it out of choice and it was that choosing that makes him commit the sin. Not saying Eve is innocent because she would have known not the eat from that tree, right, but she allowed herself to be decieved. If she were at all true to her must and mustn't do's then she wouldn't have took it.

Eve was deceived, but Adam willfully sinned. The sin nature comes from Adam.
