are there many other places that would not likely stretch but would hurt less? my shoulderblade was the only place that I could think of that would provide a large enough place that won't really stretch over the years...

i spoke with a tattoo artist about the least and most pains in each area and she said the tougher the skin the better but the fatter it is or boney it is will hurt still.
So get it where its not so painful what i did when i was getting my first tattoo was get like a safty pin and gently jab it in diffrent area's *not to hard tho just so u feel a lil prick* and see which area hurts less.
She also says if when getting a tattoo done and your not good at taking pain try not get one done on muscle because if you tense it hurts like mad.
So try my little trick and remember dont just prod once in diffrent area's just do it a couple of times or get a friend who has a tattoo to show you what the pain felt like and ask for there advice or go into a tattoo shop and ask the tattoo artist.

Good Luck.

Sounds about the same size and location as I have my tatoo. Good spot...easy to show off and easy to hide. The outline will be the most painful but usually doesn't take a lot of time. I'm not good with pain either, but I didn't have any major problem (just some gritting of the teeth at times...hehehe). Make sure you go to a reputable artist and ask questions. I know I took 2 tylenol before I went in and that may or may not have helped. Your artist should be able to help you determine the best location for the least amount of pain.

I have a tattoo on my hip. It is small so it did not hurt that much. I know this might sound bad, but if you really think that you can't take the pain, get drunk before you get it and have a person that you trust take you to get it. Make sure the person knows exactly what you want so you don't end up with the wrong tattoo!! Your only other option is trying to withstand the pain. In my opinion, it is bearable but it will hurt a lot! Good luck:)

That's gonna hurt sweetie! Pick a different area if your no good with pain. You do understand what is involved with tattooing don't you? If not make sure someone explains in detail before you make a wasted trip to the tattoo artist!! I have lots of ink-and some places are always more sensitive than others, and I have a high tolerance for pain! Good luck!

I have a small tattoo in the soft of my shoulder, like below my collarbone between my neck and shoulder. It hurt pretty bad during the tattoo job but it didn't hurt afterwards at all. I like it in this spot cause people can't see it unless I wear a spaghetti strap shirt or off the shoulder shirt. But I can still easily show it off with a regular shirt on. It's a white star.

No, even people who deal well with pain say it hurts a bit (for them, meaning it would hurt like hell to anyone pain sensitive). Just get a temporary or airbrush tattoo (airbrush ones look really realistic) because you can change them every few days or so, and when you're old and your skin is saggy, your tattoo won't be. Besides, temp tattoos are fun to put on and they don't hurt at all.

My Boyfriends Uncle is a tattoo artist and i asked him the same thing he says that the pain depends on the person. Tattoo artist can use water on a spot of your body instead of ink to show you how it feels if you like it than you can get it if not then you know. good luck

I would suggest a colored tattoo so that it doesn't blend so much with the color of your hair. Colored tattoos don't always fade, but if it does over time have a tattoo artists kind of retouch the color on it.

i don't know what to tell you. the shoulderblade is pretty painful in my opinion. anything right on top of bone is. but the pain is only temporary. i say go for it and you will be stronger for it afterward.

If it's on your shoulder blade you don't need to worry at all. I got one there and it felt like a bit of a sunburn but nothing more. The further down your arm yoiu go the more sensiive it gets though as a warning if you consider more.
