don't tell them about it until AFTER you get the job!
you should always be allowed to wear a long-sleeved shirt.

My workplace doesn't allow visible tattoos. While we wouldn't ask about them in an interview, we would make it clear once we found out about it that you would have to wear a long sleeve shirt EVERY day, no matter how hot it gets. You can wear a long sleeve shirt this time of year without raising any suspicion, and you should get an employee handbook (depending on the size of the company) that outlines dress policies. It's still better to ask up front if the tatto will be a problem. It won't look good or feel good if you get a job and get fired a week later for having a visible tattoo, or if you end up being miserably hot all summer, as some of our employees are. Good Luck!!

The only way is laser removal by a plastic surgeon. It still leaves a scar, but is the only way.Body graffiti carries a negative image in the workplace and unless you start your own business,it is unfortunate we can be judged by our looks. It is a crime to have a ta too in Korea, which is why the tattooed, anime dolls, made there are so successful.
Perhaps you can wear long sleeved shirt at the interview, and get a feel for the job. What i would do, is get a good education,be at the top of your class, then you could find a more challenging job, that would be more interested in your productivity than looks. Stay away from white collar jobs,as they tend to be harder on body images. Maybe you should look in the art field for a job and work your way up. (if you were a hair dresser, no one would care) People really do "judge a book by it's cover",Personally, i think it is unfair, but that's the way it is. I have hired many people over the years in the medical field, and a ta too would not have been an issue with me. But not all employers, are liberal.
Unless there is a reason to disclose the tatoo and depending on the type of job, it may not be necessary to tell, but most jobs, have dress codes which you would receive at the interview, if "visible tatoos are mentioned", just keep it covered. You are not lying unless specifically asked. Good luck. I would hire you. So, stay away from certain types of white collar jobs.

Tattoos and peircings are fast becoming the norm but in many professional settings are still taboo and considered a deal breaker. Try this... research where you plan to apply. What is the dress code? Are there ather employees with visible tattoos?
There are many jobs that allow your personality to be displayed. Some retailers, such as Hot Topic, are actually cool with body art.
And, if you have to hide it, long sleeves are the easy way to do this. Another option is a concealer. There are products specifically designed to hide birthmarks, tatoos, etc. that can hide your tatoo while you're on the job. Try checking the cosmetics section in CVS, Walgreens, etc.
Best of luck!
Good Luck

Personally, wear what makes you feel comfortable for the interview, and when you get that "So, do you have any questions?" part of the interview, be straight forward and ask what the company's policy is on visible tattoos and piercings. I did for my second job and me and the woman interviewing started discussing tattoos. That place is Borders, BTW, so don't feel as if you have to limit your options, just because the one big business you worked at had a restriction on tattoos.

Just ask the employer about their policy on tattoos if they have a problem usually they let you wear a long sleeve shirt if they dont approve of tattoos and they don't let you wear long shirts then you can put makeup on it and cover it up very easy.

You shouldn't let a tattoo stop you. I have one on my arm(my daughters names in Japanese) and it didn't stop me from getting a well paying job($40,000/month). Tell your employer what it means and see if they approve of it. NEVER HIDE ANYTHING AT AN INTERVIEW! If the boss finds out later, they will probably fire you. It has happened to me and my 25 year old brother. Something that small wouldn't be a problem.

you should show them the tattoo and find out what their policy on tattoos is. if they have a policy against them showing you'll just have to cover it at work. like with a wide watch wristband or a sweatband. or even a bandaid. they can't not hire you just because you have a tattoo but they can require that you cover it. good luck.

Wear a long-sleeve shirt to the interview, and if you get the job, just wear long-sleeve shirts until you get the chance to ask another employee about tattoo policy rather than the person who's going to hire you, because as long as it isn't showing they can't complain.

DONT tell them about it until you have the job. Even then I would only tell them if it was noticed. Most people still stereotype and unfortunately it could mean not getting a job that your are qualified for. Let your future employer get to know your sparkling personality and hard work ethics, not your personal decision to get a tattoo. :)

Well sweetie, if you want a real job your just going to have to wear sleeves until you get it! I imagine after you land it you will still have to continue to wear sleeves to keep it because our world is run by people that judge other people, it sounds awful, because it is,but none the less that is reality!!! Now go get your job, enjoy your tattoo and just keep it covered while you work!!Good luck!
